Greetings,
First off, I just want to say that I am a huge fan of Magix editing software, Vegas in particular, and I have been using it for many years. I recently upgraded my Vegas from version 14 to version 18 while it was on sale. There were a lot of positive changes and bug fixes with this new version, but there were also a lot of changes that I'm not too keen on. That said, if someone is able to help me solve these issues, I will be a very happy customer. 🙂
My Computer Specs:
- Acer Predator Helios 300
- Intel i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60 GHz (12 CPUs)
- Nvidia GTX 2060
- 16 GB RAM
- 1 TB SSD Hard Drive
- Windows 10, 64-bit
- Logitech Headset / Blue Yeti Mic
Here's what I need help with:
-
Small/Flat Audio Waves: The sound wave forms on the audio tracks are so small now when I record. They used to be much bigger and easier to work with. I often use this visual as an indicator or where I need to do my splits. I'm aware that this can manually be made bigger by using Shift+Up Arrow, but is there not a way to have them bigger by default? It's a pain to have to do this every time I record or import an audio track. Sometimes the sound waves are so small that I can't even see them until I hit Shift+Up Arrow a bunch of times. This was never an issue for me with Vegas Pro version 14. What changed with 18 and why? As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. (See Screenshot 1 Attached)
-
Auto-Arm Recording Track Unavailable: With Vegas version 14, my audio track would automatically arm itself and record from where I left off after I had rendered an MPS file. Now I have to manually arm the audio track before I record, or it will create a whole new track every time. I often forget to arm it and then I waste time having to move the audio clip and delete the superfluous track that it created. Please tell me there is a way to auto-arm track 1 and that this is not a manual-only option now... (See Screenshot 2 Attached)

Crashes, crashes and more crashes: I'm not sure why this is happening. I have read countless articles, watched many videos and spoke with some tech savvy colleagues who are good at resolving these sorts of things. None of them were helpful unfortunately. The crashes most often occur while I am rendering but I have also seen it crash a few times while I was editing too. Please let me know how I can fix this! The good news is, for the past week or so, I have no had any crashes and I think the reason is that I set my "Dynamic RAM preview max" to 0 (Zero) in the Preferences. That SEEMS to have done the trick but it's too early to confirm. In the past, I thought I had solve this problem but it started to crash again after a few weeks of working with it. I hope this setting will fix it (knock on wood) but is there anything you can suggest that would help? Here are the Video settings in my Preferences.
There are other minor issues as well, mostly around the UI, but those I can deal with. So these 3 are the big ones that I need help with. If anyone out there has any suggestions or advice for me, I would be eternally grateful. If you need more information from me or have any questons, please let me know.
Thank you so much! 🙏
Matt
