Vegas pro 18 edit not letting me import videos

I keep on getting this "the activation of account AAC (mc) failed if you are using the program as a guest please repeat the activation" every time I try to import any video file into vegas pro 18 for some reason only audio files can be dropped or imported in https://i.imgur.com/28HHfrs.png

There is no "Sony" Vegas 18 and mention of "Sony" suggests you may be using a downloaded pirated version?

for some reason, mkv readervideo files are able to be imported in since i enable it in the file I/O
