V. 25 - Timeline Disappeared - Movie Studio 2025

KJS-LES wrote on 3/19/2025, 10:58 PM

Windows 10.

(I posted this here yesterday but I can't find it.)

I began this video with the newest update of Movie Studio 2025.

I was almost finished editing a short clip. I had just applied slow motion. I probably hit something which I didn't mean to and the video on the timeline vanished. (See the screenshot). Nor does it show on storyboard. I was unable to figure out what I did to get it back. Note there are two versions of the video over the timeline. This occurred on just one of the clips.

Since I was having other problems, I went back to the previous Movie Studio version, but the timeline is still missing.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi.

According to your posting history on these forums this is your first topic post and posted nothing previous other than a total of three comments in other topics.

You appear to have two movies on your timeline. Are you looking at the correct one?

The current view is super zoomed in. Try resetting the view using this button in the bottom right hand corner first.

Nothing happened when I hit that button (and I did scroll down).

After looking carefully, I believe the 2 versions have somehow combined. It's very strange.

Also, the "second" one doesn't show the audio waves. I was able to get them to show on the first video, but not the second. The vertical selection bar (from right clicking) takes up the entire length of my 24" monitor, and I'm unable to scroll it above "Display Sound Channels."

(First time with this email, but not my first time posting here. 🙂)

Hi Kami

Looking at your images which appear, to be 'zoomed in', and your comments 'scroll down' and 'selection bar' size would suggest you are using or have accidentally activated the Windows Magnifier keyboard shortcut Windows key + Plus sign to turn on.

If you are using the Magnifier, Windows key + Minus key will zoom out to see more of the program window.

If accidentally enabled, this is easily done if you intended to type the Plus sign (+), then the magnifier can be turned off using Windows key + Esc .

Thanks for the reply, but the magnifier wasn't on. I often use it, and I'd know it's "on" because it effects both monitors, AND I see its one line menu bar. 😇

Hi.

I think you need to hunt down the original location of where you added the files from by using the Import tab, finding the folder to display in that panel, and checking that each file you added to the timeline has a red square showing in the thumbnails top left corner to confirm it has been added to the timeline. No red square means it is not added to the timeline.

Thanks, that's good to know.

My video was from only one clip which I had duplicated. Somehow, I had hit something which combined the two. It took me a few days and a comment or two here to realized that.
