Click the advanced button in the audio settings screen and make sure it is selected as available.

Many thanks for your help, Graham. I tried that but no joy. It seems to be picking up the mic on the laptop instead of the usb mic but now I can't hear any playback from that either. When I select something from a soundpool that is working fine. And the usb mic works fine with other (non Magix) programs. It's so frustrating!

@Chris-Wilkie

Hi

With the Rode plugged in to the computer open the Windows Sound settings dialog and set the Rode to be the default recording device. This should then become available in the Music Maker record dialog.

When you unplug the Rode the computer will revert to the laptop mic, the next time you need to use the Rode as soon as it is plugged in it should be the default recording device and available to Music Maker.

Hi John, thanks very much for your help. I checked the sound settings and the Rode was already set as the default recording device. I only see the Asio driver displayed in the Music Maker recording dialog, not the Rode. And I can monitor the recording using the headphone jack in the Rode, but there is no waveform when I record. It's sending me crazy! There must be something wrong in the Music Maker settings because I can use the Rode to record in Audacity and Soundation with no problems.

What is listed in advanced settings? A screen shot of these might be useful.

Hi

. . . . I only see the Asio driver displayed in the Music Maker recording dialog, not the Rode. . . . .

In the Program settings Audio/Midi tab, Advanced button dialog do you see the Rode listed in the indicated dialog (yellow arrow) and is it turned on.

Hi John and Graham, thanks for your help with this - I really appreciate it. I am attaching a screenshot which shows the Rode listed in the Advanced button dialog and i think it is turned on?

In the display of the Program Settings I have tried ASIO4ALL v2 Out with (1+2), (3+4) (5+6) etc but none make any difference.

I am also attaching a screenshot which shows what happens when I try to make a recording. I can hear it through my headphones connected to the Rode mic, but there is no waveform on the track.

Hope you can help!

Hi,

No, your Rode is turned off in your image; Conexant is on.

Also, click on the parameter button next to the record button. Make sure that everything is set up correctly.

After recording, switch off the Audio Rec button in the track header, then play back.

Hi John, many thanks for this. So I can now record using the Rode mic but, while recording, I can't hear any other tracks I have already recorded from the Soundpools. And the only way I can listen to anything at all is if I switch back to Conexant.

I'm clearly still doing something wrong!

@Chris-Wilkie

Hi

I see from your images that you are using ASIO4All for audio playback - this should not be necessary.

I use the settings indicated in the image I posted above ie the Magix Low Latency ASIO driver and can hear the other tracks while recording.

I'm more concerned that it says ASIO4All (3&4). Surely it should ASIO4All (1&2). I don't think it a problem having this as an output. It's similar to how mine is set albeit with a different ASIO driver and indeed with John's with Magix Low Latency.

Chris-Wilkie wrote on 7/18/2021, 11:25 AM

Hi Graham and John, I have now managed to record with the Rode mic while being able to hear the other track from the Soundpool by monitoring via headphones attached to the Rode. I am attaching a screenshot with the settings I used. I can't get playback on the laptop unless I change back to the Magix Low Latency with Conexant setting but that's fine as a workaround! Thanks, both, for all your help yesterday and today!
