using music maker and midi can i extract all sounds from my yamaha keyboard to construct say a 16 track - it seems i can only use they keys as a manual piano assistant -- what will i need to use all sounds?
@AnthonyJames-Fagg Has your keyboad audio output? You need to connect the audio output of your keyboard to the audio input of your sound card or audio interface and record the sounds of the keyboard in Music Maker.

Assuming your Yamaha keyboard can act as a MIDI controller, which is what I suspect it can do as you are hearing the default piano instrument, it can be used to play/record an Instrument available under the Instruments tab to the right of the Timeline.

The keyboard audio out should be connected to the Line In of your audio card and selected as the recording device in Music Maker, do not connect to the Microphone input you will overload it, unless your computer is a laptop with one audio socket only.
You play the keyboard with the sound of your choice recording the midi as you play. They when you play back the midi it needs to go back to the Yamaha to play the sounds. You'll have to set midi channels and also make sure the midi data has the required patch data as listed in the manual for the sound you want. I'm not sure how easy this is is Music Maker.
