USB audio interface for Samplitude/connecting to studio monitors

Neil-Kendall wrote on 3/9/2019, 2:42 AM

I'm going to buy a usb audio interface so I can connect guitars and mics to Samplitude Music studio for recording. I was wondering whether this one would work ok with Samplitude 2016 with my laptop running Windows 10:

Also, when I connect studio monitors, do I plug them from output of my laptop or from the output on the usb interface? I've never used an interface before so not sure. Thanks.

Hi.

I've read a number of posts on the forum from at least one user who uses this exact interface successfully, though not with Samplitude 2016, though the actual software should not make any difference. Just ensure you download and install all the needed and appropriate manufacturer supplied software on this page

However, I would have to advise that the supplier you link does not seem to have the best of reputations for delivering quality or on time!

You certainly could connect your studio monitors to the outputs of the interface, certainly not to your laptop (the quality will be far higher), either the 1/4" Jack or the XLR sockets.

Ok so I bought this unit and have been testing it out with Samplitude 2016. I connected the USB on the interface to a USB input on my laptop, and connected the main left and right outputs on the interface to my external speakers. I also installed the latest Windows drivers using the link you provided.

It works when I play back things on my laptop - the sound comes through my external speakers and the level is adjustable on the Behringer. However, I cannot get sound to record via the interface. I've connected a mic to it, but nothing is being picked up by Samplitude at all. I've tried switching the 'monitor' option on the mixing desk of Samplitude for the track I want to record, but it makes no difference. So it must be some settings I need to adjust.

Also, at the moment the internal mic on my laptop seems to be recording sound when I use Samplitude. How do I switch this off when I record via the interface? I don't want to have an overlay of crappy internal mic sound over what I record with a proper microphone!

Can you help with any of this? Thanks.

Did you get this sorted, I am on Samp2020 and getting the same results, so much for the instruction videos saying just plug in and play. I am using a mackie onyx 2-2
