I would like to know if I purchase an upgrade for my movie studio suite will my old license still be valid if I want to use the older software on a different device
You can have the program installed on as many devices (computers) as you want, but only two devices can be active at a time. You can deactivate devices in your account, My Products, on Magix.com.
Is your old Movie Studio Suite Vegas or Magix? From Movie Studio 17 and before, it was Vegas. For 18 and more recent, it's a different program that had a name change. Vegas dropped Movie Studio to concentrate on Vegas Pro. So, you need to be aware of that and make sure that your computer is able to handle this new version.
You do not lose old licenses, but, depending on the version, the newest version may overwrite the previous one. You get a new activation code for each version.
Thanks for your reply. I have Vegas Movie Studio 14. I would like to keep using it on my older computer and install the upgrade on my new laptop and desktop as they are all current hardware(13th gen Intel, 3060 graphics) with Windows 11 Pro. Is this possible with the upgrade process to just Install on a new computer without having the old software installed on it?

Clearly, I'm not John but yes you can because your licence is tied to your email address. So, provided the registered address is the same it should be no problem.
However, please be aware that Magix Movie Studio 2023 is a very different product to Vegas Movie Studio (as John advised). In order to avoid finding that you really "don't like" this latest version I would strongly recommend downloading and installing the free Trial version before you decide to buy.
With Movie Studio 2023 being a different product, if you should need to go back to re-edit MS 14 projects, this is only partially possible with MMS 2023, it can import the basic edits only, effects etc are not recognised due to the very different plugin structures etc between the 2 programs.
If you want to stay with a similar workflow then the only option is to upgrade to Vegas Edit for the new PC.
