Upgraded from Music Maker 2019 to 2020, 1/2 of Instruments Won't work

Karlton wrote on 4/18/2020, 7:44 PM

Hello, I just upgraded from Music Maker 2019 to 2020 (Premium, both)and I am using Windows 10 Professional on my PC. I selected all my Sound Pools and Instruments, and although the Sound Pools work fine, half of my instruments I have will not work. I get the message "not activated" (through they were), and then another message about "can't find ____ file." I tried many things, over many hours, following the advice from previous forum questions and answers, but nothing is working, and I have completely re-installed the 2020 Premium program numerous times. I tried going to the Magix Store to "activate" them, but no luck. I tried going to "Purchase", hoping it would let me re-download the instruments (without paying for them again/without charge), but it always tries to charge me again for each instruments. I do have all the instruments on my hard drive(s), but nothing seems to get Music Maker to recognize them. Please help, since I'm at my wits' end and totally frustrated. Thank you for all assistance! I'm attaching screen shots of the error messages, just in case.

@Karlton

Welcome to the Magix forums.

Check under Help>Activated content that ALL your previous versions' and coupons etc. serial numbers are entered and listed there. If not, add any missing ones.

That should ensure that all previously-purchased instruments etc. are available in 2020 version.

Hello,

Thank you for responding so quickly. I really appreciate it.

However, I have not been able to solve the problem, yet.

I apologize in advance, if I'm simply not "getting it" somehow. (:

Please see the attachment to this email message. I tried to

place all the "error" windows/images that I could, on one image.

I hope this is helpful.

In short, when I try to activate each of the instruments (you'll see

the "Accordion" listed in the attachment, just as an example), I am

told that I already own the programs from that serial number and that

I can download them; however, I can't down load the missing ones,

and Music Maker 2020 says it can't find the needed files,

although I have all of them on my hard-drive already.

Should I have a separate activation number for each instrument? If so,

I can't find those numbers, even in My Account at Magix.

All I see activated are the two serial numbers for the general Music Maker 2019

program and the Music Maker 2020 program.

Lastly, as in the attachment, I can load "Accordion" for instance, but it is missing

files, as it says, which seem to be .wav files, and I can't find those anywhere on my

computer, either.

I hope this is useful for you, as you consider my problem(s). Thank you again so

much for all your help!

"Karlton"

@Karlton

You will see I have removed your uploaded image. My apologies for doing this but it includes the serial keys for your installation of MM. This is personal and confidential data which should NEVER be posted to a public forum like this one.

One suggestion which might help: log out of the MM store, then go to File>Settings>Program settings (shortcut P) and to the General options tab. On the right hand side of that screen press the button "Clean up store". Log back into the store (via the Help menu) and see if those missing files are now available to you, either "found" on your computer or accessible under the Downloads tab.

Hi again, Jeff

Thank you kindly once again for the quick response! Amazing! I'm sorry about adding the serial numbers. Is there another way that I can contact you that isn't open forum format? If so, please let me know.

Jeff, I tried what you suggested (clean up store), and although the 2020 materials show up in the Downloads tab, none of the missing instruments show up. Just to make sure, instruments like Accordion, Cinematic Synth, etc. do not run in the Vita Player, correct? It seems that they have their own engines/players, but I just want to check this with you.

When I try to load these instruments, I'm still getting the "library not activated", etc., messages. And when I go to the Magix Store, and I try to "Purchase" the instruments, there is a charge listed there ($29.00, for instance), whereas previously, when I loaded my old 2019 version, the store would show a "$0.00" charge, and I was able to download those files, previously.

I hope this is useful info. Once again, thank you so much for your time and help.

@Karlton

Any member of the forum can be contacted via Private Message (just right-click on the user's forum name and open their profile page, where you can send a message) but I really am now completely at a dead-end with this problem so I think there is little point in you sending me a PM! 😭  I'm only another user, like you.

One, rather late thought ( and I have no idea at all if this will effect any change for you) on the same screen as the Clean up store button is a button labelled "Rescan Soundpools". Does that do anything to help?

In the end, I think you will need to contact Magix Support, either via the Support link in the header of any forum page, or via this web page.

Please do post back and let us all know if, and how, this problem was eventually resolved.

Thank you again, Jeff. Once again, I must apologize (again) for being such a "Noobie." (:

Also, thank you for the link to officially contact Magix. I looked all over previously, and couldn't find a specific area saying "contact/email support". I'll definitely send them a message, and hopefully we can get the issues resolved.

Incidentally, I did try your final suggest, "rescan soundpools", but unfortunately, no go. Oh well, as I've heard said, "Nothing good in life comes easy." (: I wish you the best, and I'll post, if/when Magix helps me find the fix.

Hi

Did you do what I suggested in the post directly above yours?

Support is done through a ticketing system with Magix, the Support link at the top of the page, or direct here.

Thank you for inquiring, johnebaker. I just wanted to let you know that I decided to go for the full upgrade to Samplitude Pro X4, which comes with the free upgrade to X5, which is starting to come out now. Having worked with Samplitude now for a day or so, it has changed my idea/ideal for workflow significantly and in excellent ways. I still can use the Soundpools from Music Maker, but Samplitude, with SoundForge are outstanding programs, and I say that as a Cubase user! (: So, all is well that ends well, as they say. Thank you again for your willingness to help.

Hello

I found this post and wondered if anyone has had any problems with updating from 2019 to 2020 ?

Just to explain previous to this Installed the 2020 version & as soon as I logged in with email & password it recognised there was an upgrade as Sound forge was presented in down loads as well as FX bundle so I thought every think was ok.

So one of my problems is when I updated the program after installing the new Music Maker 2020 Premium Edition "from magix" I did not recieve any sound pools or instruments ?

so I contacted the tech/sales team & they told me to uninstall 2020 version then reisnstall it but this time input new serial, login & my free sounds pools & instruments would apear because the Soundpools from older versions of Music Maker cannot be activated in the Store.

Ok so I have done exactly what they have asked me & yes the where correct once I had done this my icons apeared at the bottom of page to download so for exampe the little yellow sound pools icon was showing "3" at the bottom of page, but after downloading a couple instruments & sound pool I noticed emails that I was being charged for them, so I am guesing that this version you are not eligible for free instruments despite the cost of the upgrade ? or am i missing somthing here, have I read the terms wrong or is this just a mistake ?

If any one has any ideas I would be most greatful, so far I have run up a hefty bill for sound pools & instruments & am happy not to have them as the price far outwieghs the things I wanted plus the price of the upgrade.

Thank you

Dan

@Beatsdude

Hi

.. . . I did not recieve any sound pools or instruments ? . . . .

All the additional Features, Effects, Soundpools and Instruments should be listed under the Downloads tab when you are logged in to the Store.

These should be downloaded and installed first as they contain a standard set of Soundpools and Instruments before using the coupons for the 3 additional Soundpools of your choice.

When you apply a coupon the price will change to 0.00 if it does not then then the coupon does not apply to that Soundpool you have selected.

Hi John

I have been charged regardless as I thought they would not charge me as my upgrade says I am allowed 3 Soundpools & 1 Soundpool Collection ? But the yellow Icon at bottom of page still says 3

Yes thank you john I have read your comment, well this must be my mistake then as nothing changed to 0.00, I was just charged so I am guessing those sound pools & instruments are not included.
