Upgrade Movie Studio Platinum 16 => Movie Studio 2023 Suite

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You do qualify for the upgrade to Magix Movie Studio (MMS) from Vegas Movie Studio (VMS).

Do note that the 2 programs are very dfferent, Vegas Creative Software stopped develepment of VMS and the gap left in the product range was filled with a version of Magix Movie Edit Pro (MEP) which was modified to be able to import the basic edits, no effects etc, of VMS project files.

MEP was rebranded to MMS earlier this year.

If you want to stay with the VMS workflow and interface then you should be looking at Vegas Edit.

For MMS there is a list of tutorials here and you can download the trial version from here and test it - do note most of the tutorials are using MEP, however they apply to MMS.

Hello, when I purchased the Movie Studio 2022 in 07/2022 I was promised a free upgrade to version 2023. When I try to upgrade I get a charge. How do I get a free upgrade? Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

When you buy a version of any Magix program you get free updates to that version of the program for one year as well as free technical support for one year from Magix when using your Magix account. That means patches only to your current version.

2022 and 2023 are different generations of the program and would be considered upgrades and not updates. Therefore are not available without additional cost. The upgrade to a new version is cheaper than buying the program from new.

Hi.

Try going to the website and use the upgrade option. Make sure you scroll to the bottom of the product page where you will see 'Upgrade'. Press that and it should take you to a page to log into your Magix software user account. Proceed from there. It will ask you for your product code. It could be that will allow you to download the new version and show you have to pay 0.00 $/£/whatever. I have no idea but seems reasonable as your code would be unique to you. If that doesn't work try infoservice@magix.net. If that bounces back then try later as they may be doing website maintenance.

You may get an automated reply to begin with.

I had the VS 2016, registered with Magic. I had an offer to install the MS 2022 for $69.99 and later upgrade to MS 2023 when it becomes available. I purchased the program online and cannot find any emails about it. Now when I try to upgrade it still asks for $69.99. Thank you for trying to help me!

Hi.

You must have had an email with the activation code in it as it would have to be different to your VS 2016 version. (You can keep both versions working on the same PC). You must also have a working Magix account for MMS 2023 for it to be activated. Your activation code (product key) would be available there. You must always keep those emails or print them out for safe keeping.

You can also find the product key to you current program under Help in the program.

receive an email with your serial number and instructions for
downloading. Please keep an eye on your spam folder around
this time to make sure you don't miss the email.

I will look for the email in August, but I do not remember receiving it.

If you can't find that email then send a copy of the email you have and send it to the email address on this page of the Magix website along with a request for download instructions.
