@Jeffrey-Nix If the old version is listed in your user account at https://www.magix.com/int/support/my-service-center/ you should be able to upgrade to Sound Forge Pro 15 for a reduced price.

If your SF-8 info is not listed in your 'Service Center > My Products' account, you may had used a different email address when you last activated SF-8. Also, check out this recent comment on upgrading. If you have problems, emaill: sales@magix.net .

Regarding SF-8, did you try a different audio device and experiment with the record buffer settings? An acquaintance uses SF-9 without problems on a Win 10 PC and I still use SF-10 occasionally which runs fine. SF-8 is still outdated and upgrading to the current SF Pro version is recommended.
Take note that the record UI is different then it was in legacy versions. If you do upgrade and need help, start another thread.

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @Jeffrey-Nix.

Thank you for that information; I increased the buffer size and it seems to have corrected the issue!!
