John-Solar wrote on 12/31/2020, 12:19 PM

I have a web site that originally uploaded as designed using other web hosting FTP, but now when I make changes on to my web site pages, those changes do not take effect they do not show the changes on the web. But in my Xara Web Designer Premium Looking at the "Preview Whole Website" my designed site looks perfect showing all alterations, then correctly uploading it through other web hosting ftp the changes do not take effect, please can you advise. Hello John, I am having same issue. I am following you to see what I am doing wrong. Spent most of the day uploading via ftp successfully but none of the updates show, I cleared out my history cache, no luck yet. Richard

@John-Solar @ggnoco

I will say immediately that I don't own or have any experience of WDP. But I have used other web design software and whenever I have encountered this problem it is usually caused by either or both of two problems:

  1. The changed files have been accidentally uploaded to the "wrong" folder on the hosting site. Check carefully that your files are exactly where your host requires them to be.
  2. Much less likely, but have you waited long enough for the changes to be picked up and propagated by your server?

I have a similar problem. I have tried to publish several times, did not figure it would work, but had to try. The Home page will pop up in what was 15-20 publishes ago/weeks ago. So, far, any of my tablets/cell devices work with new publishes. However, another person's cell will show the site from weeks ago. Chrome seems to catch all the updates, so far. Firefox is about 50/50. Internet Explorer is horrible with the anything new that has been published.

It makes me wonder as my Xara is 'up to date' even though it shows: Xara Web Designer 16.0.0.55248  DL x64 Oct 18 2018. So, don't think it is Xara......

@MillRealty

Hi

The easy fix to check if caching errors are occurring, is to press Ctrl + F5 several times to force the browser to reload the site, F5 does not always work.

Do be aware that if your ISP may also caching site files.

I have the same problem, changes made in Magix Webdesigner premium on my home page are not seen in any browser after publishing. But when I make changes in other page, there is no problem at all. Thanks for any help. Koen

@Koen-Uvin

Hi

. . . . changes made in Magix Webdesigner premium on my home page are not seen in any browser after publishing . . . .

Has the file name assigned to the 'home page', as seen in either, the Edit Navigation dialog, or the Page & layer gallery been changed?

If it is not index as shown in the image below then the web server will not be able to find the new page and will deliver the old 'index' page.

Hi John, you are 100% right, for one reason or another, my home page was (re)named index-a. I change the page name to index and problem solved. Thank you so much. Koen

I'm having same problem now. Been looking for a solution for hours. I've done all that's recommended by others but nothing works.

Check to see if it is uploading as https. I have the same issue. When I remove the 's' (http) it displays properly. Not sure how to change it.
