Updatec to MEP2020 - HitFilm Movie Essentials not usable

mha wrote on 9/26/2019, 2:36 PM

Hi,

HitFilm Movie Essentials is practically unusable after update to MEP2020 from MEP2019. Dead slow and seems to be lost in preloading with hardly any CPU usage. Anyone else experiencing the same? Ideas for solving this apart from reinstalling everything which didn't solve the problem?

Thanks,

Michael

No, can't say I can Michael.

I do have trouble using some of the effects within MEP multiple times within the same project with MEP sometimes freezing. Ignite Classic Cine Stye being one, and some titling effects when stretched but no real slowing down of the program. Adding effects does affect rendering times, but that's about it.

Ray.

Thanks Ray. So it had to be me. So I uninstalled HitFilm Movie Essentials again, deleted all registry keys containg HitFilm and deleted directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\FXHOME Helper. Then reinstalled and activated HitFilm Movie Essentials. Seems to work now.

It might seem odd to reply to my ancient post but maybe this can serve fellow users in solving sporadic issues.

After reinstalling the problem came back sporadically with no pattern to reproduce. Just a few weeks ago I noticed my HD4000 graphics card had a very old driver (Windows genuine) and Windows insisted this is the latest and greatest. I downloaded the latest intel drivers. And by doing this I accidentally fixed my sporadic problem with Magix too.

Lessons learned: If something seems wrong consider updating your graphics card driver and try manufacturers drivers too. Windows won't always find the really latest ones.
