Update will not work

Steve-Shapiro wrote on 1/7/2022, 11:51 AM

Every time I open my Music Studio (2022), it asks me if I want to update. If I say yes, it downloads the update but gets stuck right after and closes the program. If I say no it just closes the program. I can't seem to use the program anymore, and I need it for my job. Please advise

@Steve-Shapiro Maybe the firewall or Windows Defender deletes the update because they wrongly assume it is dangerous? You can try to temporarily disable your firewall or Windows Defender and download the update again. Maybe it will help.

I have done and this did not help. Is there any way around this? I have paid for this program and would love to be able to actually use it

@Steve-Shapiro

Hi and welcome to the forum

More information would help:

Computer specification, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

Can you post a screenshot of the 'Update' message.

. . . .  If I say no it just closes the program. . . .

What happens if you just close the dialog ie use the X top right of the pane?

Thanks John . Heres the info you need

I am on a Windows 10 home system. Version21H1 (OS build 19043.1415)

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Graphics Card   Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
 Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, Intel Corporation compatible

Here's a screenshot of the dialog box. I can keep this on all day and it wont go past this.

If I just close the dialog box when it comes up it closes the program anyway. If I choose "update later" it closes the program anyway. If I choose "update later" and check "don't show this dialog" it closes the program anyway, and when I open it again, it still opens the dialog box.

If it could just open without updating and stay open, that would be great, since it seems to do everything I need as it is. I just need a simple editing program for an upcoming project.

I have uninstalled an reinstalled twice and nothing changes. I have also turned off all my firewalls and malware blockers. No change.

Any help would be appreciated

Shapi

@Steve-Shapiro

Hi Shapi

Thanks for the specs and the image of the message dialog.

Check the options in Internet options, Advanced tab are set as shown below in images 2 and 3. To open the Internet options:

  1. click the Windows button then type Internet - you should get something similar to this:

  2. HTTP section settings

  3. Security section settings

Restart the computer and then open Music Studio again.

Thanks for this info. Unfortunately there's no change. Actually, it's been crashing my computer more frequently, which makes me think there's some kind of problem with the OS. So, follow up question...if I upgraded to Windows 11, would Samplitude still work on that OS?

@Steve-Shapiro You said you disabled the firewall and Windows Defender already, but are your sure? It looks like there is something blocking the updater from running correctly.

Before upgrading I would suggest you make a clean install of Windows 10 and update it to the latest version and update all your hardware drivers with a tool like Snappy Driver Installer.
