Update problem

After presumably updating web designer 18 pro to version 19.00.63929, I'm asked to "remove product" or "cancel". I choose to cancel. However, the product does not get updated. Is it necessary to remove the product first? This makes little sense, its just an upgrade. I have not encountered this issue in the past. Kindly advise. Thank you.

@Alan-Salamy

I'm not absolutely sure about this but all recent Magix programs have removed the previous version when the user chooses to update to the most recent one. Originally, this process was "automatic", i.e., running the installer for the "new" version automatically removed the "old".

Now, I believe, the user is given the "option" to "Remove" that earlier version; as you have discovered, failing to allow this removal essentially stops the install of the new!

So, if you are uncertain as to whether you really want to remove the earlier version before installing the latest one, could you create a back-up or disk image of your drive before running the installer? Doing this will mean that, should the new version NOT be ideal for you you can then revert to the disk image and so put everything "back to what it was before".

Hi,

I am surprised that it would ask you to remove the previous program. It did not for me or other users.

You may have have already installed version 19. The icon on the desktop and in the bottom tray, if you had one, do not get changed. An icon for 19 is added to the desktop. If you open Xara from one of these older icons, then you'll be opening the previous version, then trying to upgrade and getting the message that you got.

So, check to see if Xara WDP 19 is not already installed under your programs.
