Update Notifier can't be uninstalled

green-neko wrote on 11/16/2022, 11:03 AM

This is for Update Notifier 3.0.0.50.

I've been trying multiple times to update Update Notifier and it keeps telling me that it can't remove the old version, because I deleted the old installer on accident. It gives me a pop-up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is no longer available."

Is there a way to repair the Update Notifier without reinstalling any other MAGIX software? Or is there a way to obtain the file Update_Notifier_setup_x64.ms_ manually so I can actually update it? I've been Googling this and there is no solution, and I haven't seen a way to repair Update Notifier or get that file back so far.

@green-neko

Hi

. . . . . can't remove the old version, because I deleted the old installer on accident . . . .

That in itself would not stop the program being un-installed, however deleting the uninstall information file from within Windows would.

See this Microsoft article and follow the instructions there to fix the issue.

Then, to uninstall Update Notifier fully, download and use Revo Uninstaller Free to start the uninstall, when the uninstall is compler perform the scan to find leftover file and registry items and delete them.

Just installing and using the troubleshooter fixed the issue. Thanks.
