Update Notifier?

James-Lo wrote on 1/20/2020, 12:28 PM

Sound Forge suite installed "Update Notifier" which is always running because it's in the start up folder. From other posts in this forum I gather that it is the same as "Connect" and "Network Sync". I disabled both the QMxNetworkSync and Sound_Forge_Pro_13_Suite info channels and that seems to have suppressed the ads for Audio Cleaning Lab that kept popping up in the lower right corner of my desktop. This morning, SF updated itself to build 131 from build 124, so I guess that means the update mechanism is independent from the info channel.

What other functionality does Update Notifier provide to a SF user? I don't see any mention of Wi-Fi Transfer or Cloud Import in the SF help files. Can I uninstall Update Notifier without any loss of significant functionality? Thanks!

Version 13, build 131, 64 bit, Windows 10, MOTU Ultralight mk4

I do not have "Update Notifier" installed. Pro 13 displays a message to initiate the update or the 'later' option when SF is opened,

Do you have either "Connect" or "Network Sync" installed?

How do I get rid of annoying pop-up urging me to unnecessary updates. No Connect or Sync or etc

@GuVe

If you have the latest version of this feature it is called Update Notifier - uninstall from Add Remove programs
