Update issues - crashing and static

Meagan wrote on 1/7/2022, 10:59 AM

I got a notice that an update was available on Sound Forge 15 so I installed it and every since it either suddenly turns all my audio into loud static, it crashes completely or both. I can't seem to find a contact number or email for customer service or technical support. Please help!

I tried restarting the computer twice. I tried reverting back to the previous version. Nothing is working.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Firstly, which version of SF do you have? Read the 'Sticky' at the head for the main Sound Forge forum page.

If you have Audio Studio, there is an issue with the low latency driver that is known to cause static noise issues. A relatively simple registry tweak should fix it. See the instructions in a recent comment directly from Magix support.

If you have SF Pro, try resetting Sound Forge and clearing the cache. In the 'File' menu, select "Reset and clear cached data". Close and restart Sound Forge. This applies to AS as well. The low latency driver issue does not exist with SF Pro.

Otherwise you can request a Magix Sound Forge Tech Support ticket.
it is a bit confusing, so you may want to peruse the step-by-step instructions in this comment:

btw, @Meagan, best wishes for 2022 and welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community.

Hello @rraud I just opened it after doing all the things and restarting the computer and after 30 seconds it shut down again. Any other ideas before I try the support ticket?

Hi @Meagan, I would recommend uninstalling using a third-party uninstaller like 'Revo Uninstall' that will uninstall SF and the left-over registry entries inclduing other pertinent data the OS uninstall leaves behind, which in usually the root of recurring issues .Use the advanced scan mode to remove the leftovers. Then shut down, reboot the PC and reinstall SF.
Revo Uninstall is highly regarded and often recommended by Magix support as well. There are pro and freeware versions, the free version is adequate in most cases unless a 'forced uninstall' is needed.. which is not likely.
