@NicolasG

Hi

Try the update agian after disabling your Antivirus Folder/Ransomware protection feature, this is a known issue with some AV programs.

@NicolasG

In addition to what @johnebaker has written; I too have experienced this "issue", or rather, in my case, non-issue, twice!

Despite what the error message says, on my computer the update had installed correctly! So, try running the app and check, under Help>about, exactly which version and build you now have. Assuming yours behaves as mine has done, you will actually see it is 22.03.167.

No, it is still 165 for me. And I turned off what could be turned off on my virus software (Bitdefender). Still doesn't work.
Now I have another question as well: Where it downloads the updates? Because now I've downloaded it about 15 times...

@NicolasG

The downloads are saved, by default, to C:\Users\[yourusername]\Documents\MAGIX downloads.

I'm sorry that the update clearly has not installed for you, despite you seeing the same error message as I saw. I'm sure John will come back to this post later and be able to offer you more specific guidance about that Ransomware feature.

I don 't find anything in that folder neither. There is the Video_deluxe_2023_Premium_22.0.3.165_DLV_INT_221018_14-13_52881610_22_0_3_165.exe file but nothing else.

@NicolasG

The file you name is the full installer for build 165. So the update patch is clearly not there!

Unfortunately, I think I am completely out of ideas to suggest to you. Despite your several attempts to download the update it seems something on your computer is deleting the file before its installation can complete. I'm afraid that does rather suggest some part of your computer's security is deliberately preventing this file from being installed.

I think you really do need now to create a Support ticket. Start at the Support heading at the top of any forum page, read carefully each succeeding page, always choosing the option to Ask Support (sometimes this is found right at the foot of a page). One of the things you will almost certainly be asked to do as soon as your support ticket is accepted is to download and run a Magix utility which reads a lot of data about your system. Once this is uploaded to Magix Support they are often able to diagnose the problem and give you a solution.

@emmrecs @NicolasG

Jeff, the patches (on my system at least) are saved into a different location. This is where my patch (167) went to:

My username in this case is bb19.

@NicolasG, have a look in there. You're after the second file. "VDLX" is short for Video Deluxe, which is what the program is called in Germany, and the name for the main exe file.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

System 1

Windows 11 v23H2 severely modified by Openshell and ExplorerPatcher

Power supply: 850W Cooler Master (should have got modular)

@AAProds

Hi Al,

Thanks for that link, though for me, there are NO exe files anywhere in that folder! I do clean up all TEMP files regularly so I suspect these updates have simply been removed.

Jeff, yes, it's gone from mine too now. It may blow itself up after the program updates itself successfully.
