After condemning the AI Sharpen as being poor, almost rubbish in the last update, I've come to quite like it now I know it's idiosyncrasies or even how to use it!

I've quickly tried out the AI Smoothing in this update and, whilst it's a little "strong" I feel it's got a future with me when I've played a little more.

Just tried to load a project I started In November 2024 and last did some editing to it 29 December and MS2025 after the update has crashed. Tried it with a couple of other recent unfinished projects. Both crashed.

It seems to be an issue with Neat Video.

Reported it to NeatVideo and it seems they already know:

"There seems to be a new bug in the most recent update of Magix Pro X 16 and likely Movie Studio as well.

We have reported this issue to the developers of Magix and are currently waiting for their reaction. 

In the meantime I recommend to return to an earlier build of Movie Studiothat had no such bug."

Hi Andy,

I'm not sure whether this NV problem is entirely a result of the latest release of VPX/MMS. I experienced it yesterday, though I'm not wholly certain it occurred after updating VPX; embarrassingly, I can't remember! (Blame old age!)

I did report it to NV support, along with the NV .dmp file and a very short project which demonstrated the issue and was told (by Vlad) that all would be forwarded to the developer responsible for the Magix version of NV. Vlad also said he would let me know what he/they discovered; it seems, from your post, that things have moved on somewhat since then!

One thing I have observed: the error does not always occur with NV and the latest release of VPX/MMS; IOW, I've experienced at least two occasions when "everything behaved properly"! Vlad suggested some things to try but these proved inconclusive, unfortunately!

Greetings Jeff,

As well as the three "in progress projects" I tried I also started a new 5 minute VHS to AVI SD using only Gamma correction and Neat video. It worked, edited and exported cleanly without any problem.

I saved it, closed down MS2025, rebooted the computer, loaded up the project again into MS2025 and instant crash.

After doing the system restore (dated 06January2025) all projects have loaded as they should with no crashes.

Hi,

I tried out NV on the new patch in MMS2025 and whilst editing, it crashed. Upon opening (the backup) I got the same Error message as Andy.

I hope they get this sorted out soon, very soon.

I do not get any crashes while using NV. Saving project and re-opening gives the crash message as above.

I also found another possible issue - exporting the NV 5.6.6 Pro treated video to 4K UHD 25 fps gave me a blank (black) video, source is 4K UHD 25fps, however exporting to FullHD 1920 x 1080 25fps gave me the viewable video.

This annoying development has caught me with my pants down because I'm doing things on my laptop, with no nightly system backup, so I can't roll back. So, I thought I'd completely uninstall and start from scratch, just in case Magix hasn't applied the patches to the initial release. Well, the question is finally answered. It hasn't. I installed the download from My Products and it is at version 199.

Thankfully, I have kept each patch, so I'll update to the one before this one.

After my roll back yesterday I keep getting the update popup everytime I start MS. It's still showing the same update version as I write now.

I think Magix is playing the percentage game - they reckon there are more users without NV than there are with so the majority won't notice and will be happy with the u[date.
