Unable to share to Youtube

KNB wrote on 1/1/2020, 1:18 PM

When I try to share a video to Youtube, (Share->Youtube/Facebook)/Upload current movie as video), I am unable to sign into Youtube.

I see a window from Google so that I can sign in with my Google account. I enter my account name, hit the next button, enter my password, and click the 'Sign In' button. The result is this message from Google:

Couldn't sign you in

This browser or app may not be secure. Learn more

Try using a different browser. If you’re already using a supported browser, you can refresh your screen and try again to sign in.

There is a learn more link displayed too: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/7675428?hl=en-GB

The options that the link provides the following solutions:

  • Use a supported browser
  • Turn on JavaScript in Chrome
  • Turn on JavaScript in other browsers

It also has information for App Developers.

Has anyone been able to upload to Youtube, or have any work arounds so that I can get this working?

Thanks.

I also have this exact problem. I think we can fix it if we can just get the URL that the built-in browser is attempting to use, so that we can put it into Chrome or Firefox or whatever. Otherwise, I think you're going to have to change the sign-in system to open an actual browser. I've tried multiple different things to fix this, including copying the link for "create a new account" into my browser, following the link, then clicking "or sign in" on that page. At that point, it will let me sign in, but when it comes to selecting the account, I get another error from Google.

So, if you copy the link from "Find my account" into your own browser, you can answer some questions to find your account and log in. Then you get to this screen

But clicking on any of my accounts gave me an Error 400, suggesting to me that the link passed on from Movie Studio was incorrect.

@KNB, @RobertW-Countryman

Hi

There have been many issues with using the internal uploader to Youtube with some Magix programs, particularly older versions where YT have changed the uploader parameters necessary, this may be why you are getting the 400 error - the data received by the server is corrupt, incomplete or does not match what is expected.

The general advice given for uploading to Youtube is to export the video as normal, check it for errors and then use the Youtube website uploader rather than the internal uploader in the program.

@johnebaker I know this was posted a while back but I have the same problem, and my application requires a direct upload from Movie Maker. Basically, I start with a zoom file, edit it in MM and then render it. Even in the lowest quality MP4 rendering, the file is more than 10x larger that the original. So it takes 10x longer to render and then 10x longer to upload, which is basically hours in total. When I upload to YouTube, the small file size is maintained, AND the upload speed is fast, up to the point where I get that damned message to use "a different browser." Why does MM have the option to upload to YouTube then not have it available to do so?

@Mark-Kuzyk

The issue is still the same as it was in the reply that @johnebaker gave in the post immediately above yours.

I don't know what you mean when you write my application requires a direct upload from Movie Maker (presumably the product name should be Movie Studio or Movie Edit Pro?). Whichever the editing program is the recommendation is always to upload via the YT website uploader, thus avoiding problems almost inevitably encountered when trying to upload from MEP/MMS.

OTOH, if you actually do use Movie Maker then this is NOT the forum for you! I see you have previously posted with questions about Music Maker so please confirm exactly which Magix video editing program you have!

@emmrecs I use Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum. That was my fatigue talking after hours of fighting with the software. My points are:

1. Based on principle, why would MS 17 have the option to render and upload video to YouTube that does not work? The suggestion is to upload to YT directly, which is non-ideal and flies in the face that direct upload is an implicit advertisement of a built-in feature that does not work.

2. Rendering my video to MP4 using the lowest possible resolution takes an hour. Then it takes another hour to upload to YT. Rendering as part of the direct YT option takes just over 10 minutes and the file is almost a factor of 10 smaller. The upload time is then also 10 minutes. So having a true direct upload option would be ideal because everything is done with one action. Also, there is no wasted space on the drive for the intermediate step of rendering to my system first before uploading. The present two-step process is comes at a large cost of energy and entropy as well as wasted time. Not very green.

YT videos seem to have the equivalent quality to those of much larger size as MP4 files. If the software developers refuse to find a way for direct upload to YT, perhaps a compromise would be to have a rendering option to produce a much smaller file that maintains the same quality as YT. I, of course, would like to see the one-step option to upload to YouTube actually work.

Hi Mark.

I know this is going to sound petty but the forums for MS17 are here and inquiries should be posted there.

The current Movie Studio package supported on these forums is a completely different editor.

@Mark-Kuzyk

Hi

. . . . Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum . . .

In this case you are in the wrong forum for this Vegas product - see the Important posts here.

You could post your question there however the answer is most likely to be the same as here - use the YT uploader.

YT changed the authentication protocols after VMS 17 was released, it was also the last version of the program from the Vegas Creative Software division - they dropped further development in 2021 to concentrate on Vegas Pro.
