When depressing the "cloud-import" button, nothing happens. Magix Photo Manager Deluxe. How do I get this to work so I can import photos from Google Photos?

Assuming you have not uninstalled Magx Update Notifer/Cloud Import, you have to connect and download manually using the Magix Cloud Import feature independent of the program.
To launch Cloud Import from the Taskbar - right click the Update Notifier icon and select Display and proceed from there - see image below.
Note: Update notifier is also known as Magix Cloud Import, Magix Connect, Magix Network Sync depending on the version installed
