Unable to load reference video

Ingvar-Nilsen wrote on 11/8/2020, 1:09 PM

I want to load a reference video into Music Maker. I am not going to edit this video, the video file will just serve as a reference, helping me adjust the timeline elements.
The message I get says: The file format of somefile.mxf (or somefile.mp4) cannot be read by MAGIX Music Maker. To circumvent any access rights, I have copied these files to the same folder where Music Maker stores the projets. And I have set the access right for each file to "Everyone", to boot.
I have tried with various formats, most of them rendered in Vegas 18 Pro.
So here I am stuck.
I have just purchased the Premium Version, 3 days ago.

Hi

. . . . I want to load a reference video into Music Maker . . .

That is not currently possible, see the Music Maker bug list item 1.

It is not known if this feature will be restored/fixed.

Ok, thanks.
Wonder if the bugs are prioritized in accordance with their position on the list. This is on the top..
For me, this bug is almost a show-stopper. The application does not work as advertised.

Hi

. . . . if the bugs are prioritized in accordance with their position on the list. . . . .

No - the list is a composite of bugs found by other users and myself. The items on the list have been reported to Magix Support.

They also rely on crash logs sent in by users from within the programs, so what they see is a much bigger picture then we do.

. . . . The application does not work as advertised. . . . .

That is debatable - AFAICS, as advertised, there is no mention of importing video in any of the Music Maker advertising pages, except for the Specifications page where it gives the supported video file formats.

Ok, let me rephrase it:
It does not work as documented.

@Ingvar-Nilsen

Raise a ticket with Magix. The more people who complain, the faster it may be fixed.

I got a response on my ticket. And as I understand, they will issue patch within a few days, which will correct this anomaly.
So for me, I think I can close this case.
