Trouble recording tracks in Magix Music Maker Live 2016

I hope someone can answer this. I've searched topics all over the web for similar problems, but haven't found the answer. I've seen people belittled, for not asking the question properly, not having "the best" hardware, being scolded for not reading the manual, vaque answers that tell you to just look in the "dialog window" but don't say how to open it. I've tried several different softwares all with the same results, so it must be in my initial sound setup and/or my slow brainwaves and not with the particular software.... please be patient with me, I'm not that technically inclined but I just purchased this Magix software as a last resort and still have no luck.

My goal is to record a track from my keyboard, like a bass line. Then play the bass line back from the first track and record a piano on the second track from my keyboard, and so on with multiple tracks.

The problem I have is that when I start recording on the second track, it not only records my keyboard but also records from the first track, in other words, layering both on the second track. I want to have the different patches by themselves on different tracks.

I've tried other configurations, like playback from from computer's speakers instead of through my keyboard, but then they don't sync upon playback. Other methods I've tried with inputs and outputs either I can't hear the playback track or I can't hear the recording track.

I hope someone understands what I'm trying to say, I want to record on my computer the way I used to on my Tascam 8 track cassete. Is it possible?

I have a soundblaster z card with all the effects disabled from it's control panel, running on win 7 and the latest ver. of music maker live, my keyboard is connected through USB .

I think I know what may be happening.

In your computers listen/record settings, *For Windows 7* (Start ====> Control Panel ====> Hardware and Sound ====> Sound) what are set as the default devices for recording and playback?

If possible, what's the settings within Magix as the default playback device and driver being used (Press P ====> go to the Audio/MiDi tab)

If you can you please do that with your keyboard plugged in and type the answers here.

Thank you for your response, however, there are no actual default settings. As i stated in my question, I have tried countless settings, I"ve used the magix asio, the creative asio, I've used the keyboards line-in and line out, I've used direct sound, I've used the soundcards line-in and line-out, I've mixed and matched all the settings with only the two results that I described, it either records everything from the first track, or it has so much latency that the tracks will not sync upon playback.

What I really need is someone to tell me how it is "supposed to be setup" rather than to describe how "I set it up" which obviously doesn't work and the manual is very limited on information.

I can understand why a previous poster was so frustrated that he resorted to cursing, because although Magix makes a good product, I have owned many different ones over the last ten years, they are extremely lacking in tech support.

For instance, I watched as the moderator came to the forum the morning after my post and deleted the two "spam" posts that followed mine, then answered the third post that followed mine with three or four words, then left, completely ignoring my post. I see that he came back this morning and answered a few more posts, ignoring mine again. From looking at his profile, it seems as if he certainly has the knowledge to help me out, unless of course, he doesn't want to admit the software doesn't work.

I actually talked to a pre-sales agent before I ordered this and told him what I wanted to do, I'm not sure why he suggested musicmaker live because it seems like it was actually designed for "non-musicians".

He also told me that I woud have no problem with my Superior Drummer plugin. I have searched the forums trying to find a way to install the plugin which seems to vary with each music maker version, but it turns out, the "no problem" has become an impossible task.

Wow, so the man with the curseword is bumped to the top, and I'm getting further and further away?

Please tell me what was the word he used, that is now deleted. Maybe I could get some response if I used it?

Problem Solved. Bought Ableton Live Intro for same price, worked like a charm. Made a great recording first try. Tutorials built into the software itself, live phone support if you need it but I didn't. Recognized Superior drummer at start up, just click on the plugins tab and there it is.....

Good to know! If you ever change back to Magix let me know, I have a video that may help set you up.....Dealing with MIdi, PC and Magix can be a pain but it actually is not as hard as it may seem....But I know whatcha mean...been there, done that to death and feel your frustrations. What really sucks now is Windows 10 has messed up my MMM2016 and I cant get any answers to the issues......anyway, goodluck with the music!
