Transfer instruments from older version of MM

Sannheten wrote on 4/19/2021, 2:44 AM

I have two old versions of music maker - 2007 and 16 - but bought the new one 2021 now, to give MM a new chance ;). There where quite a lot of sounds, instruments and presettings, which i like to transfer to the 2021 version. Is that possible? If - how to do? Where do i find files and how do they look like?

Thanks for helping me

@Sannheten

I don't think you will be able to transfer anything from MM 2007 but all the features you had with MM 2016 should be automatically "added" to your 2021 installation when you register and activate that latest version.

So have you fully activated the new version?

If you check under Help>Music Maker Store>Activated content, you can see whether your current version has picked up the details of your earlier version.

@Sannheten The old synth object instruments from old music maker version don't work anymore in modern Music Maker. You can use old serial numbers of Music Maker and Samplitude Music Studio to activate features and Vita Instruments in the current Music Maker 2021 but I believe this is only possible from versions 2015 and up. So the best idea to get a lot of Vita instruments and Soundpools for cheap is to find old copies of Music Maker and Music Studio 2015, 2016, 2017 etc.

I've checked "Help>Music Maker Store>Activated content", but there only the MM 2021 editions are listed (plus and premium) - even though i had MM 2007 and 16 registered. I tried to activate 16 on the Magix Homepage, but entering my computer-id it always said, "it did not work, please try later". i even dont get the difference between register and activate. 21 seems to be activated, but it does not say so at my homepage-account. ?!?!

@Sannheten It's normal that 2021 isn't listed as activated under your account.

You should be able to enter the serial number of Music Maker 2016 in the Help menu (under redeem credit).

Be aware that this need to be Music Maker 2016, not Music Maker 16 which was release in 2009. Also the 2007 version is too old.

@Sannheten

Hi,

Soundpools are not linked to any version of Music Maker. Your Soundpools should be under:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools

Make sure that they are all there. Then in MMM2021, simply add them to the Loops (parameter gear, Add New Soundpools) by navigating to the folder indicated above.

That way, no Soundpools are lost.
