@johnebaker

Hi,

Nope, this here is the correct forum for Sound Forge. Vegas forum is only for Vegas.

There is actually a lot more discussion on SF on the Samplitude Forum than here, because SF was bundled with Samplitude ProX3 Suite.

This is one of the problems of having these different forums. It would be best to have all Magix products in the same forum, but then Magix would suffer the outrage of the Vegas, Samplitude and Xara users.

@tdf

I think that there is a setting change somewhere in SF and I vaguely recall someone mentioning it, possibly on the Samplitude forum. I will check.

What is the resolution of your monitor?

Hi

Thanks John CB - my bad - I was thinking this may be the same issue as with Vegas where the screen icons were too small to read clearly.

My previous post has been removed.

I went hunting for the info on the icon and text sizes and found nothing. I tried within SF and could not do it. I will keep watching. However, my screen resolution is 1920x1080. I don't have SF on my Surface Pro which is 2736x1824 and I would expect smaller icons. If you have an ultra high resolution screen, you may have to change the Windows parameters to get larger text and icons. I haven't looked into this.

AFAIK, the toolbar icon sizes are not user adjustable. You would have to lower the device's display resolution and/or change the DPI scaling, which would affect everything.

Thanks for the replies, I wrote to support also and was recommended to lower the display resolution for now, and that a fix is in the works for this known issue. I lowered it and now can see the icons.

I had the same issue with small toolbars after installing on a new Windows 10 laptop with 4k screen. I figured out the solution and wanted to share with anyone that may be looking for it:

- Right-click Sound Forge Pro 11 shortcut / icon

- Properties

- Compatibility

- Under Settings, click the check-mark box for "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:"

- Next line under that, click the drop-down box and select "System (Enhanced)"

- Click the Apply button

- Start Sound Forge Pro 11. The program now runs at its native resolution, which I believe is 1080p. Splash screen, menus, icons, toolbars, waveforms, and everything else should now be correctly sized.

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums and especially a big thank you for posting the solution to a problem which, although it does not affect me directly, is one that is becoming increasingly "common" as higher resolution monitors become the norm.

I have tagged your post as the solution to the original question.

Update: SOaB, that did it 'Scott Call'.. thank-you, thank-you, thank-you. I'll buy you a beer if you're in Manhattan for AES.

I had the exact issue with SF11 when I updated to a high res laptop.

https://www.magix.info/us/forum/toolbar-icons-size--1191098/

The toolbar icons were the size of specs of dust, totally unreadable and near impossible to select. Re-adjusting the screen res from 2160p to 1080p and changing DPI settings did little to nothing. Vegas, SF10 and even the beta test versions of SF12-AS had 'normal sized' icons. So I've been using SF10 mostly. I tried adjusting the compatibility settings prior, but maybe I missed something, so I'll try the above.

I'm a SF user since version 3.

Has anyone had any luck increasing icon size in SF12? This fix worked for SF11 but not for SF 12.

rraud wrote on 8/1/2020, 11:14 AM

I do not recall this issue with Pro 12. Try an uninstalling with a third-party uninstaller that cleans the normally left-over data, then reinstall.

Aside from the 2017 comments, you can try lowering the PC's display resolution, I have my 15" 4k laptop display set down to 1920x1080. Lowering the DPI is another option to try. (100 to 125% for instance) This of course with be global and affect the desktop, ect
