Title queries

Extracts from MEP 2013 PDF manual

1
The Media Pool includes the tab "Title" with folders filled with additional, thematically named title templates.
•  Open one of these entries and select any title template. A simple mouse click provides a preview, and double clicking creates a title object using the template.

That doesn't work here. I have to drag the template to the preview monitor to see it.

2
•  If you want to create a text field where the text is automatically adjusted with breaks, drag a text field onto the preview monitor.

Drag a text 'field'? From where?

3
The option "Automatically adjust text" is activated and cannot be changed.

I have no such option. Presumably it means the first of these?

And that doesn't get set as described.

Hi terry

I get the following:

Item 1 - same as you - does not appear to work here either !  A bug?

Item 2 - I am as mystified as you are !  Lost in translation?

Item 3 - the option Automatic text break works on mine. At least it does when you resize the title box holding down the Shift key as you drag the corner or size handles - text font size does not change.  Without the Shift key the title box and font resize together

Hi John,

Thanks for testing that.

I think it's a combination of bugs, translation errors and no updating of the manual.

Hi Terry and John

1. Single click does nothing here either, but a double click will preview or insert it to the timeline, depending on how you have the double click behaviour set in the Program settings.

2. What this should say is "....., drag the text field in the preview monitor" . The Automatic text break is ticked and enabled by default on creating a new title and if the auto text break is not required untick it before dragging the text field box, otherwise:-

3. The tick will become greyed out and cannot be removed.

I think 2. & 3 are by design.

Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for that clear translation! Understood and agreed.

Sometimes I regret referring to the manual - I end up confused about a feature that it turns out I already understood!

Reported these bugs and errors to Magix. Here's the response FYI.

As far as the first part goes, there's definitely a mistake in the
documentation here. A single click on the item doesn't yield a preview for
anyone here. Actually, it seems to take a combination of dragging it onto the
preview monitor and pressing play to get the preview. Can you confirm this
from your end? So, either the program will have to be corrected accordingly or
the documentation.

With the second part, I believe the problem is in the documentation's
wording/translation, which isn't very clear. I, too, would have misunderstood
this. The "dragging" actually doesn't refer to a drag & drop operation of an
item, but refers to holding down the left mouse button and dragging open a
rectangular section (text field) on the preview monitor to define an area in
which the text is supposed to be contained (as opposed to a text object that
will grow when you keep typing) - a very practical feature. The "Automatically
adjust text" option is then another inaccuracy in the translation. As you
correctly assumed this refers to the text break option and needs to be
adjusted to reflect the correct name in the program's interface.
