Can anyone tell me how come the effect on the Title (for the picture attached) on the words NIGH was achieved.

Something like this?
Your sample obviously has more happening but this is what I've used before for textures in titles. With alpha effect the white letters show the track below (higher number) while the black of the title show the real background.

Carl's answer is a very good one and I think he is pretty close to what you are looking for. A question for you, is this a static title. By this I mean are the black and white portions of the title in the letters NIGH moving or not? This also looks to me like it could possibly be some type of "explosion" effect running behind the title, is that the case? If so, I would have a different answer than if it is just a static title.
