Title Editing

tony-d3204 wrote on 4/1/2022, 12:01 PM

The Title Editor on my Movie Studio 2022 Suite is not working. When selected from the Media Pool - Effects - Title Editing nothing opens. It is therefore not possible to edit any titles ( font, colour, animation etc).

I am using Windows 10 and have very recently activated and registered the programme after purchase.

What should I do ?

Hi,

That is not how it works. You have to first create a title. Click on the T button on the toolbar above the timeline to create a title. Then, the title editor will work.

If you want to modify parts of the title, like change the font or colour of one word out of many, then you highlight that in the text window in the preview monitor, not in the title editor, and then change the font/colour/size of that in the title editor.

I suggest that you watch some of the tutorials in this thread, especially Basic Editing parts 1 and 2.

Thank you John CB for your prompt reply. I have repeatedly created titles, highlighted them and then tried to use the Title Editor to change colour etc. It simply does not work. I am quite experienced with Magix products having used them for approx 10 years, so I am familiar with the techniques involved in producing movies. Apart from the Titler programme in MEP 22 not working properly I am also having difficulty with the Maps programmes and some of the plug-ins don’t appear to be correctly activated. I am suspicious that something had gone wrong in the installation process. I obviously received the email containing various links to download, installation and activation but things don’t appear to be 100% working correctly. One particular problem is with the New Blue FX sign-in page for the Titler inviting me to insert email address and password. When complete there is no way to submit the information ( it is as though the bottom of the page is missing ) and there is no mechanism for scrolling, so I am not confident that I have been able to create an account and/or sign in. This would possibly account for my inability to use the Nee Blue Titler but not effect the MEP 22 Titler.
I am reluctant to uninstall and start again as this process appears rather daunting. Your tutorial mentions 20 GB of data in the download of MEP 22 including the add/ons but I appear to only have about 5GB. Help please!

Hi Tony.

First I can't recreate your initial problem, sorry.

As John said, the alterations must be done within the monitor view and not the text editor.

Whether this is down to you missing some of the download I doubt it.

Have you come from an earlier version of Movie Edit Pro or Movie Studio?

John has a lot of effects etc carried over from previous generations of the program that you can get to keep under certain circumstances.

I have nowhere near 20GBs of data in my folders but it is more than 5GB although I think for the basic program and some effects around or just above 5GBs sounds about correct to me.

Also some effects go cross platform so effects that came with Movie Studio could end up being available to VPX or in a Vegas product.

Ray.

Hi Tony,

In which tutorial did I mention 20GB?

With VPX13, I have just over 10 GB, but about 3 GB are due to purchases, mostly songs, from the Store. I'll check on my desktop later for MEP2022, but 5 GB sounds about right. There is a checkbox (you are asked) if you want to keep the installation files. If you accept, the will be under Magix/Downloads. I move them elsewhere for future use. This way, if I have to reinstall, nothing has to be downloaded.

Reinstalling usually does not solve problems, but can create more, so for now, do not reinstall the program.

Could you please post a screen shot of the entire interface, including the Media Pool opened to the Title Editing box.

Did you try editing a title in a new project?

Please post a screen shot of Program Settings, Device Options page.

Before looking at other problems, let's try to get this one sorted out first.

Hi

I agree with @browj2, sort out one problem at a time. The NewBlue problem may be related to the titling problem.

It would be helpful if you put your computer specification in your Profile, Signature so we know what you are using.

See this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) your are working with.

Hi Tony,

I asked for a screen shot of the full interface, not just part. I don't see that you have selected a title object on the timeline or the location of the playback marker or the Title Editing interface.

If you don't select a title object on the timeline, you can't edit it. If the playback marker is not over the same title object, you won't see the results.

Please post a full screen shot.

Is the laptop full model number the HP Pavilion - 14-ce3501sa ?

. . . . I can immediately see that I am not set up properly with the Editing page completely obscured. . . .

From the screen shots you have posted, everything is too big.

It looks like the Windows Display settings are incorrectly set - possibly due to trying to work on a 14" 1920 x 1080 screen for clarity ie to see the text, buttons etc clearly.

In Windows settings, System, Display, Scale and Layout check that the scaling factor is set to 100% as shown below. This is the optimum for the program, however can be difficult to read.

This entire window is missing from my screen and there is no way to get it to show.

Looks like I'm going to have to uninstall because the entire application will not work after I tried to apply the update just now. I'm not impressed with this product at all.

So, I uninstalled and reinstalled the product and it did nothing to bring back that missing screen!

Hi

Given the display issues with Movie Studio, and the update dialog box - what is your computer specification, Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) your are working with if this is a laptop.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab  would help.

Are you getting any error message dialogs? If so then please quote them in full or post screenshots.

There is definitely something going wrong. The only way I can get a similar timeline view to your own is if I have the program not showing in full screen.

Even then the Monitor display section shows correctly rather than your view which is showing no playback controls or presence of any kind.

What nvidia driver version are you on?

It should be vs 31.0.15.1659 for the gaming driver.

The nvidia driver version is 471.35, type DCH.

I don't think that this is the problem because last week the program worked perfectly fine. Now it doesn't. Uninstalling and reinstalling it should have solved the problem and it didn't. I have submitted a ticket to Magix. If they can't resolve it, I will ask for my money back and go back to using v15, which worked perfectly fine. I never should have bothered to upgrade. Wasn't worth the trouble.
