This file has no sample data!

jason-anderson wrote on 11/24/2017, 9:36 PM

I am using Music Maker 14 Producer Edition download version on WinXP 32. I have a video file made with this program several years ago that I want to add more to. When importing it into the program, the video line imports fine. The audio does not. I get a message saying " This file has no sample data!" I've looked around the program settings, and everything looks like its supposed to. What is going on?

(The file I'm using is a WMV. It is 130mb.)

Hi

. . . . This file has no sample data! . . . .

This would suggest the file is corrupt - can you play the video file in Windows Media Player?

It plays in both WMP and VLC

Hi

Can you post the results from the Tree view of a MediaInfo analysis of the wmv file causing the problem.

Thanks

Hi.

Thanks for posting the MediaInfo details.

Two things stand out to me as possible causes of your problem: I notice the sample rate is the unusual (for video) of 44.1kHz, rather than the more usual (for video) of 48kHz. This could be especially problematic if you have MM set up to work at 48kHz.

The other matter is even more strange, I think: the bit rate is listed as 126 kb/s. I would expect this to be 128 kb/s.

I wonder whether either of these, or a combination of both, is causing MM to throw a wobbly?

Hi

Thanks for the MediaInfo information - however there is some confusion:

. . . . Music Maker 14 Producer Edition download version on WinXP 32. I have a video file made with this program several years ago that I want to add more to . . . . (The file I'm using is a WMV. It is 130mb.) . . . .

  1. The file you have analysed is not the original video file you created in Music Maker.

The MediaInfo data indicates that the file is an mp4, however Music Maker is not capable of exporting or reading this format - it only supports WMV, AVI or MOV video formats.

  2. If this is the correct file, then MediaInfo data would also suggest that the video file has been run through a converter such as Handbrake.

Can you please clarify.

This was made with MMM a few years ago. It has been converted several times and copied. The original is on YouTube. I'll download it again directly into AVI.
