@Nick-Met In my experience the used hardware has a major impact on stability. Yes, Music Maker is somewhat unstable after the switch to 64 bit, but it got better over the last couple versions.
Since I use an external USB audio interface with ASIO drivers In got a lot less crashes (Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 or Roland Quad Capture). I suspect that the problems are caused by the standard audio drivers, which come with Music Maker, and certain computer audio devices that don't work well together with them.
There may be 'no problem with the sound card' in that it works for example when playing an audio file in an audio player, however it may be set incorrectly within the program, and/or the wrong drivers are installed if you are using an external device.
I too have a Lenovo, however, like most computers, it does need setting up correctly for the program to be able to use it.
We therefore need to know what the input/output devices you are using for audio, more so if they are an external USB audio interfaces.
Again, the only external device connected to my pc are the speakers. All my programs are running smooth except Magix Music Maker. Adobe after effect and Sound forge pro 16 are running just fine. Check online and see how many people are complaining about it. They have to fix the software, that's all.
@Nick-Met So why does my computer from 2012 run it fine and yours not? I'm pretty sure there is a driver settings incompatibility between your hardware and Music Maker. You can configure the driver in the program settings.
. . . . Try to do exactly what she did in this video and see . . . .
Works fine.
We can only assume the issue you are now having, which if you had detailed the exact issue would have been resolved yesterday, is the apparent 'hang' when you try to save the preset.
There is no hang, the dialog is waiting for an input from you, ie you must press the Enter key to confirm and save the preset the entry.
Note: some other simila dialog entries need confirmation by pressing the Enter key - if you do not do this they appear not to work or the program appears to have hung.
By the way do they have a plugins similar to DENSITY from sound particles ? I have it on my computer but MUSIC MAKER can't run it https://soundparticles.com/products#plugins
AFAICS Music Maker shpuld be able to run Density, however the way you use it different as you have to route an instrument of audio into it to apply the effect.
if you have the Free or Plus edition of Music maker you may need the VST bridge feature to access the VST if it is a 32 bit version ie a VST 2.
See this tutorial on using the mixer FX channels to add the the effect.
@Nick-Met A MIDI pad controller? Just select it as an MIDI input in the program settings. Then set the mapping of the pads in the controller settings (read the controller manual on how to do this). Usually you can play the Music Maker Live pads with the notes 36 (C3) up to 59 (B4) with any MIDI controller. This assumes that C0 is note 0.
@Nick-Met You need to check the part of the manual where you can change the MIDI notes played by the controller. How it works in other DAWs like Cubase or FL Studio is irrelevant. I told you the notes you need to play in Music Maker for triggering the Live Pads. If your pads are mapped from the notes 0 to 35 or 60 to 127 you will not be able to trigger the Live Pads. That's why you need to check the settings of the controller.
