The exported movie is much lighter and pale

Hello, I'm experiencing a problem. Yesterday, I bought Video Pro X15 and started editing a video. During the process, the colors displayed in the program looked great. I adjusted the brightness, hue-saturation, and contrast on some clips. When I finished editing, I exported the movie as MPEG-4 with a colorspace of bt.709, the same as the original clips. However, the color of the final video is lighter and paler. Why is there a difference in color between the program display and the final video?

Hi

We need more information:

  • Are you watching the final video on the same computer screen, if not, what are you watching the finished movie on?

  • Is the Deactivate effects option under the Lightning icon/button bottom right of the preview monitor, see image below, turned on?

  • Which export preset are you using, and have you changed any of the export parameters?

  • Are there any global effects applied from the Effects, Movie Effects settings (Master effects)

Yes, I'm viewing the final video using PotPlayer on the same PC and monitor where I edited the video in Video Pro X15.

"Deactivate effects" was not selected. I checked it, but there is no change in the display view of the program.

For exporting, I have used a preset to export to "Video as MPEG-4" without any additional changes?

I have not applied any global effects in the Effects, Movie Effects settings. The program has default settings.

I've just played the video in PotPlayer, in Windows Media Player and in some Window's program Movies & TV.
In PotPlayer, and in Windows Media Player it is pale, but in Movies & TV it is OK.
I guess I have some local problem with my PC.

Hi

. . . . In PotPlayer, and in Windows Media Player it is pale, but in Movies & TV it is OK . . . .

In Windows settings, search for Colour Management, and check that sRGB IEC61966-2.1 is being used.

and the monitor(s) is/are set to the Generic .icm files

If you have colour calibrated the monitor(s) then do a re-calibration to see if this improves the colours - I do mine about every 4 - 6 weeks.

Also check PotPlayer is using the correct colour space in its Video, Colour Space options
