Tempo Pitch / resample for Video - Audio File

Pawel-Kowalski wrote on 3/9/2023, 8:23 AM

Hello. I have upgraded from Movie Studio 2021/22 to 2023. I'm using quite often Tempo Pitch / Resample. In the old version when i Change Tempo for Video / Audio clip it change tempo on Video and Audio at the same time. Now in version 2023 it change only Tempo on AUDIO and do nothing on VIDEO. Never mind if i use video / audio on one track. How to enable back this as it was in 2021 ?

Hi

If you want to change the video length as well as the audio the Speed effect is the correct one to use, not Tempo/Pitch which is an audio function, as can been seen by the names of the adjustments available, they are still the same as in earlier versions as far back as MEP 2015.

In older versions ie 2015 through to 2022, it was also stretching the video (slowing or speeding it), IMHO incorrectly duplicating the Speed effect.

I have been using Tempo / Resample to change BPM of music videoclip. Im doing videomixa of music clip arranging tempo two Clips. Doing this synchro by Tempo between music and video was done.
and i dont need to sync video with music.
This was basic advantage

now when i change from 120 BPM to 125 BMP BY tempo my video is out of sync and its difficult to sync video without sound to the sound with changed speed.

so for me Speed used only for video and Resample / Timestretch used together for Video and Audio was perfect.

now main advantage of Magix has disseaper.

Hi

. . . . is there a chance to change settings to work as it was till 2022 . . . .

No - the effect is hard coded and has no optional settings.

If I understand you correctly you have 1 music video clip, you are adjusting the Tempo/Pitch of the audio and you want to adjust the video to the same length as the audio clip - is this correct ?

If so see step 4 below.

However if you have 2 or more video clips and a separate single music clip then starting at the point where your next step would be to adjust the tempo/pitch on the music:

  1. Mute the music audio and export the video track as a MXV file.

  2. Import the MXV file replacing the video clips so you have one video file and one audio file.

  3. Make the Tempo/Pitch adjustment on the audio file.

  4. Use the Stretch mode of the mouse to adjust the video to the same length as the audio

You should now have the video back in sync with the music.

For the videomix made of 70-80 tracks before it was quick and easy and Now reproduce steps 1 to 4 , export and import 80 tracks , then stretch audio , its becoming not user friendly and time consuming. Sorry to hear that this functionality was changed. I didnt find this info before buying upgrade. What a pitty. My favourite soft for Mixing its not anymore so usefull. For other purposes like video mastering holiday Movie Ok. But for my main purpose not. Anyway i will try Your solution. Thank You for the support and explenations.

From everything you have commented we are back to the solution I provided in my first comment.

The Mouse object stretch mode tool - keyboard shortcut 0 (above the character keys) - does the equivalent of what the Tempo/Pitch effect did in the older version of Movie Studio ie changes the length of both a video clip and its audio at the same time, it is also faster to use.

Hi

Following on from my last post and looking at this again:

Is this the kind of video mix you are creating similar to the many 'Shuffle dance' video mixes on Youtube ?

If not can you link to an example of what you are creating.

I think I must be suffering brain fade here.

Are you trying to match video to bpm or different music tracks to the same bpm?

All I can recall is this tool which still exists for bpm.

Hi Ray

Have a look at a couple of the YT 'Shuffledance' videos on Youtube, they are some very good editing requiring stretching/shortening of video clips to match the music and must take a long time to do.

Hi John.

I do see them on you tube. Nothing difficult about it within MSS. I've been doing it for years.

I thought @Pawel-Kowalski was after something different.

Needless to say none of them were dancing to the soundtrack, not even the same rhythms in some instances 🤣.

I can't personally say I've noticed any variation on how this can be done since I first started doing this in 2019.
