Suggestings for getting HEVC to work?

Update: Never mind. I found that the HEVC encoder has references to Intel inside of it. So it appears that it only works with Intel CPUs. Does Magix warn users of that anywhere?

===============

Okay, it's a long story, but I just reactivated MEP Plus 2016 with a new serial number. Prior to that, I had bought the HEVC encoder, but I never got a chance to try it because my initial version of MEP Plus 2016 had been deactivated. (I was able to give HEVC the activation code tho.) I'm running the latest patch, 15.0.0.90. Okay, so I'm all excited to see how well the HEVC encoder works. I tried to encode the Magix Demo project. All the numbers are correct (resolution, frame, ratio). But I get an error message. So my initial questions: Do I have to have an Intel process for HEVC to work? (I don't. I have an old AMD Quad core.) I have a new-ish Nvida GTX-960 with the latest drivers. That should work with HEVC right? I know someone is going to tell me to reinstall Magix. I really hate to have to do that. There used to be a "cleaner" that a person could run to clear the Registry. Is that still available?

Started with MEP 11, then 17, then MX, then MEP 2013, 2015, then 2016. Changed to the fast competitor after that, which worked fine with my non-Intel hardware. Then bought a used Dell with an Intel GPU, just to play with MEP again. Installed MEP 2020 Plus in March 2020, even tho I don't like losing patches if I have to reinstall after a year.

Testing on a Dell Vostro, <s>i3-8100</s> updated to i5-9400 w/ UHD 630, 16 GB 2400 DDR4 (CL15), Win10 Home, heavily NTLite'd. Now with GTX-1650 Super OC'd. Added a WD Blue M.2 for OS (PCIe 3), Apps, Temps and Video-In. 2 Monitors. A WD Blue SSD for outputs. (SATA III.)

Hi

. . . . . There used to be a "cleaner" that a person could run to clear the Registry. Is that still available? . . . .

The Magix Cleaner tool is available here - you wil need to login using your emal address and password.

Also see this tutorial steps 1 and 2 for cleaning up an installation - if you have upgraded to Windows 10 then follow the whole tutorial.

AFAIK Intel HEVC codecs (or any other Intel video codecs) are not specific to Intel processors only and will work with AMD.  The only requirement is that the graphics card supports h.265.

Hi John:

Thanks for the mxclean file. I had one left over from a previous version of MEP. I'll make an image of my C drive and try a reinstall of MEP Plus 2016.

The Nvidia GTX-960 does support HEVC encoding - and decoding. If the problem isn't that I run an AMD CPU, then the problem might be that the GTX-960 uses a different version of HEVC then the 970/980 series. The 960 wasn't out when the MainConcept HEVC encoder was being designed.

Having said that, I would like to see someone here in the forum say that they have an AMD CPU and that they have been able to use the HEVC encoder.

P.S. I just upgraded to yesterday's latest Nvidia driver. Still no joy with the HEVC.

I restored my Windows computer to before I installed MEP Plus 2016.

Then I installed MEP Plus 2016 again.

Before I ran it, I installed patch 15.0.0.90.

Then I ran MEP Plus 2016.

I activated it.

Then I opened a project, selected the HEVC encoder, activated that, and tried again.

I get this window:  http://postimg.org/image/rxjdty2z9/

The Resolution, frame rate and aspect ratio are all correct for the project.

I can prove that this problem is with Magix and not with my computer.

I installed a new hard drive. I installed a fresh version of Windows 7 SP 1 on it. I patched it with SP 1 Rollup. I installed the latest motherboard drivers and the latest Nvidia GTX-960 driver.

Then I installed MEP 2016 Plus. Before I ran it, I patched it to 15.0.0.90.

Then I opened the Magix _Demo project. I tried to export that using HEVC. I got the same error message that I got before.

Then I installed the shareware program Bandicam. It is very popular screen capture program with Gamers.

When I started Bandicam, it immediately recognized that I had an Nvidia HEVC capable grahpics card.

See the screen shot at http://postimg.org/image/s61s5nndt

I made a video and encoded it with HEVC in Bandicam. It worked.

Therefore, since HEVC works in Bandicam on my computer, there must be something wrong with the HEVC encoder in Magix MEP 2016 Plus.
