Stuck Instrument Trouble

This video will tell you everything you need to know about my issue. I searched the forums and could not find a fix or anyone with the same issue, so if I missed something feel free to please link me to that post if it has a fix or whatever:

 

Basically an instrument will just get stuck and won't change what comes out of the on-screen or midi-keyboard input from time to time, and I have to restart music maker every single time it does this. It's irritating and I'm wondering if there's some simple fix for it that I'm just not seeing.

Hi.

I've never heard of this problem before, and the fact that no-one else has replied strongly suggests you may be the only one experiencing it. Perhaps your only option may be an uninstall and reinstall?

However, I did watch your video and you will see I have removed it. This is a public forum to which minors can have access. It is therefore unacceptable to use obscene language which is a direct contravention of the community rules number 1. (The bottom of this page provides a link to those rules if you wish to check.)

The solution is simple: re-record the audio of your video, without the unnecessary language, and then repost it.

Will you listen to how you're talking to someone who is not only a paying customer but a member of this forum looking for help? "The solution is simple?" Could you be any more like a robot? I came here looking for help and so far all I've received is someone telling me that coarse (unnecessary language) is against Rule #1, but that rules clearly states that coarse language isn't tolerated when directed at another forum user or member of the community, which mine wasn't. Where do I report this to an admin?

While coarse and offensive language may be part of every day life, when you post in the forum it is not acceptable.

Community rule 1 also states:

'Avoid provoking other members and keep your comments factual and objective. Angry posts written to blow of steam will be deleted. Members of the community who write such posts will be warned. Repeat violations will result in removal from the community. '

Rule 6 expands on this and states:

Directives – Noncompliance

Please follow instructions provided by our editors and moderators. We want to keep the quality of discussions at a consistently high level and prevent content which is offensive to users, MAGIX employees and moderators.Those who use the forums as a personal venting ground, as well as those who repeatedly cause trouble, will face consequences for doing so. 

Harassing other members may be met with warnings, temporary bans or complete removal from the community by the editors and moderators. Private messages should also be written in an appropriate tone. 

If you do not wish to conform to the rules, then the consequences are a result of your own actions.

I am conforming to your rules, and I agree with them. What I disagree with is that my video violated any written community rules, because it did not.

It already is in the rules - observe the punctuation in the rule - Commas are used to separate the individual words or phrases that together make up a list:

'Respect the opinions and views of other members of the community.Insults, coarse language, and harassment of any kind toward other community members is forbidden.'

To put it another way the following items are forbidden:

  • Insults
  • coarse language
  • harassment of any kind toward other community members

See the problem with the punctuation is that "coarse language" is placed in between two other things that are only possible to use against other people, "insults and harassment."

When you put three things together to make the subject of your sentence, in english, and those thing can share a common relation to the predicate of the sentence, this makes those things a "series," or a group of things that are meant to all pertain only to the predicate of the sentence "toward other community members is forbidden" as it is written unless explicitly written to state otherwise.

So if coarse language were, in fact, restricted in a general sense, and not just towards other community members, it would need to be expressed separately in a separate statement.

Example: 'Respect the opinions and views of other members of the community. Insults and harassment of any kind toward other community members is forbidden. Coarse language of any kind is forbidden.'

Therefore my video isn't violating any rules, hurting anyone, or subjecting anyone to anything they should expect to be protected from by using this forum.

By the way, since I literally never got any help with the original issue I was trying to get resolved from the forums (which is weird considering most of the time questions do get answered here quite a bit, and in very helpful ways) I went ahead and contacted customer support for an answer. Strangely enough, they were able to help right away and didn't seem repulsed by the video I sent them at all.

You are entitled to your views of the correct grammar to be used but that does not alter the fact that you were quite explicitly told by two different moderators that your language in the video was unacceptable in a public forum.

The fact that Customer Support did not find it unacceptable merely emphasises that their work is not "public". They have no need to consider that such language could be offensive to other readers/viewers of the forum.

It is possible that John EB may well wish to respond to your latest post, but in the meantime I will lock this thread since your problem is now resolved.
