Stops other programs from working??

Ok so i just installed music maker, im liking the look of it....BUT

I'm trying to listen to one of my .mp3 files whilst making a beat in music maker. However if Music Maker is running, no media player seems to play my mp3 files, windows media player, vlc, quicktime etc, none will play sound. And if i try to add an mp3 file to music maker it says it's unsupported.

But after i exit Music Maker my mp3 files play fine in my other media players.

Why is this happening? its really annoying, why does music maker stop my media players from working? and how do i stop it?

Hi Welcome to the Magix forums.

First, please read this post and give us all the information requested there. We don't know anything about your computer nor even the version and variant of MM you're using.

Second, in MM, which driver type are you choosing to use, MME, WDM, ASIO, Magix Low Latency, etc., etc.? I suspect you are using a type which allows only one audio source to be heard at a time.

Apologies for that, I will be sure to include all information in the future.

You were correct about the driver type, I had to change it from ASIO to Direct Sound. Now i can use other media players with Music Magic :) Thank you very much for your help!

In case this is helpful for anyone else, you change driver types by going to Settings, clicking the Audio/MIDI tab and then selecting driver type from there :)

Hi,

MusicMaker reserves the channel for output so don't run software that competes for audio output. Listen to your mp3 using MusicMaker. There is a browser in MusicMaker to navigate to your file and preview it.
