Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

In the main monitor you should see two symbols. [ and ] They are range markers and mark in and out points. set the [ at the beginning of what you want to export and the ] for the end. Then using 'Export As' use the 'export selected range' option.

Ray, what do you actually want to achieve:

1/ Split the 19GB master file into two bits?

This would be best done outside Magix, because Magix be re-rendering each half of your master file before you even start editing it. Not ideal. A program such as AViDemux will split up your file losslessly. You can then open each half in Magix and save as separate projects, say 1 and 2.

2/ Create two projects using roughly half of the 19GB master file for each?

If this is the case, simply bring your 19GB file onto the timeline, split it at the appropriate point, delete the half you don't want then save that project; for example call it project 1.

Then, open a new project, again bring your 19GB master file onto the timeline and delete the section you used for project 1. Then, save the open project as project 2.

FYI, Magix does have the ability to have multiple MOVIES in one project, but that won't work here because you want to put each half (or so) onto DVDs. Having two movies in a project will mean that both of those movies will be put onto the same DVD, which appears to be not what you want.

Remember that Magix is a non-destructive editor; on the timeline, all you are doing is editing a representation of your 19GB master file, not the file itself. You can use the same master file in any number of projects, all with different edits. The 19GB file will remain untouched.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

@Ivor-Williams007 Or you can drag the 19GB file onto the timeline, put the play marker where you want to 'Split movie' ,

You can then Export each movie with a separate name,

Close that project. 'New Project'

The exported movies will be saved as MVD files that can then be dragged into a new project & can be edited, exported or burnt to DVD as you wish.

@Ivor-Williams007 Oops I guess someone should've asked you, everything posted on here is Magix Movie Studio, If you're using Vegas Pro you should be asking on the Vegas forum - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/vegas-pro-forum/

Yours prob looks something like this & doesn't have the options mentioned,

PS, you'll have to do the split, delete & save project or split outside of Vegas using a 'program such as AViDemux'
