@Christo-vanRensburg This is just a user forum, no Magix staff is here. There is probably a contract between Steinberg and Magix that doesn't include the newest version for Sound Forge but just the last version.

When Sound Forge Pro 17 Suite is published, it will probably include the current version of SLP. Contact Magix for a definitive answer.

Thanks for the feedback. I have tried to contact them, but the website goes around in circles, and I failed to find the place where you contact any kind of support. I wasn't sure where this comment would lead. It seems they try to discourage contacting support by frustrating you with the website. I think I'll just buy SpectraLayers from Steinberg and be done with it. (Magix sold the product to Steinberg).

@Christo-vanRensburg Steinberg usually offers very generous upgrade prices. Especially during Black Friday. I think I paid just about 40 € to upgrade from the last to the current version of SpectraLayers.

Steinberg's upgrade price from SLP-8 to SLP-9 is currently around $80 usd. Are the new features worth the upgrade cost? It depends..
SpectraLayers was originally published by SCS (Sony) and was included with some versions of Sound Forge. It's designer Robin Lobel is still there and is a moderator on the Steinberg SpectraLayers forums.

Requesting a Magix support ticket is a convoluted process. I have 12 step cheat sheet if you need it..

BTW. I have been using Sound Forge since the early Sonic Foundry days - long before Sony. I got vs.14 because it came with a free SpectraLayers upgrade. I had a license for Vegas too during the Sony days. But slowly I have been moving several software licenses across to Yamaha/Steinberg. They offered generous crossgrades - and esp the Vegas interface was getting very dated. I cross-graded Sound Forge to Wavelab - which is good. But due to my long history with SoundForge, I just know my way around it better. Have to see whether I will upgrade again or not ...
