Sound Forge saving wavs as .wdp files no matter what I do

I know this has been an ongoing bug for literally over 10 years now. I am currently running Sound Forge Pro v10 on a Windows 7 machine. I create audio, I save it, it saves as .wdp. I can change the extension by editing wdp to wav and it's fine but I shouldn't have to do that. There is an issue somewhere and I find it hard to believe that to this day there is still no fix for this. Please, Magix. I use Sound Forge to make a living. I need this to work correctly. Can we get some eyes on this and how to fix it?

Are you 'Saving as' a PCM <.wav>, 44.1k, 48kHz. and 16 or 24 bit file?

SF Pro 10 was an SCS app so do not expect updates. I have not encountered this behavior in SF Pro 10 in Win XP. Vista or Win 10, Could have something to do with Win 7 or an app running in the background.

Yes I am saving as PCM .wav 44.1k 16 bit. I know it's an extremely rare occurrence as I've not seen many mentions on the internet about it and the mentions I do see lead to threads that just die on the vine.
