Sound Forge Pro 12 no longer defaults Save As to source folder

craig-l wrote on 4/16/2018, 1:29 AM

This is very annoying to me. When I edit an audio file in SF Pro 12 the commands Save As and, if appropriate, Render As no longer automatically select the folder of the source file. This was never an issue with SF Pro 11.

Is there a way to set SF Pro 12 so that the default folder for Save As and Render As if the folder of the source file.

Note- there is a Preferences selection to remember the Save As folder, but that only works after I've had to locate that folder and only during the current working session. Open a new session and I have to again browse to the folder I want to Save As to.

This is a major irritation.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but if you have the hoption set to remember the last folders for Open, Save as, and Render as then it will always rembmer the last folders that were used in these dialogs. So just save and open files using the folder and you shouldn't have any problem. This is how SF Pro has always worked.

Yes, you didn't really quite understand my issue. I don't want SF to remember the last Save As folder.

What i want: when I open a file, I want the folder that appears by default when I do a Save As or Render As to be the same folder the source file was in. If I want to save to a different folder, I'll have to navigate to it from the Save As dialog box. But by default, I want to folder to be the same as the folder the source file came from.

However, your reply did lead me to consider something. When I compared SF 11 and SF 12 settings, I noticed the in SF 12, the option 'Remember last-used Save As folder' is selected, but in my SF 11, it is not selected. So I de-selected that option in SF 12 and the result was what I was looking for. Now SF 12 Save As folder is always the folder the file I'm working with came from -- by default.

Issue resolved.

I have a similar problem.

I have windows 10 and sound forge 13.

I may have several files to be edited in my "working" folder. I open a file from "working", edit it, and save it into one of several folders. Sound Forge remembers the last save folder just fine. So I delete the old file and go to open the next file in working, and sound forge does NOT remember my "working" folder, instead it goes to my last saved folder. I have looked for "remember source folder" option, but can't find it.

Can you help me? THANKS in advance!
