Hi @james-thomas6487, the 'record' UI was changed to a 'modal' design in Sound Forge 11 and remains. It is quite different from the legacy workflow (Sound Forge 10 and prior).
That said, and as @johnebaker stated, it is often a windows sound setting. There are many threads on recording with Magix versions of Sound Forge and Windows sound settings in general.. search this forum.
FWIW, the 'remote record' feature was also dropped in SF-11 but was brought back in SF-15. However that too differs from the legacy versions.
