SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 10

I just bought this product after I have used the free version, but after installation, I can not make it start.

I typed my serial number and click "submit", and a message for restarting appears. By clicking OK, the serial number box appears again and again.

I am using Windows 10.

I will appreciate your instructions to start the Sound Forge 10.

I just purchased & installed the program yesterday and I was having the same problem with activation.

Update ... I found this solution on the forum, used it, and it worked today!

My adaptation & my thanks to JeromeAudio comments on 3/31/2017, 11:57 AM for the advice ...

"It seems like the problem is related to having a trial serial number previously installed. I couldn't activate the software with my full version serial number and saw a trial serial was still there in this key in the Windows 10 registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software\Sound Forge Audio Studio\10.0\License

My registered trial demo serial number was there too, but I'm guessing when the software detects a trial key and the trial has expired then it doesn't bother with the new registered license. The software restarts and prompts you for a serial number again & again. This is a software bug.

To fix the problem, exit the program, open run/regedit and browse to the registry key above. Make a backup of it to your desktop first. Then alter the sub-folder named License. ( change the "current key" serial # in the license to the new one issued upon purchase.) Then exit regedit & restart your computer...

Run Sound Forge Pro Audio Studio 10, enter your new serial number, and then complete the new registration prompt to activate the software."

It should launch ... This process solved the issue for me!

Good afternoon David. This is Dan Pettegrew. I had to uninstall and reinstall my Audio Studio 10 over the weekend and encountered the same problem. Thank you for the workaround but it didn't work for me. Every time I change the current key data field with my purchase serial number and restart the computer, it goes back to the trial version serial number. Could I be doing something wrong? I've attempted the steps multiple times in your post but nothing yet. Thanks, Dan

I haven't tried to reinstall it and it's been working fine except for a perky 'run as administrator' prompt I finally got rid of by right clicking to get to advanced properties ... you might need to contact MAGIX customer support by email ... they are helping me with some Acid Pro 8 new instrument issues right now!

Try uninstalling the program with a third-party uninstaller (such as the free version of Revo Uninstaller, which has the option to remove leftover reg entries that are normally left behind.

> Regarding the elevated privilege issue:

This is how to fix it in the other versions of SCS and Magix SF. You could adapt this procedure to the equivalent MAGIX registry entries:

"In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following directory:

HKEY_USERS > [user SID]_Classes > VirtualStore > MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software > Sound Forge [Pro or Audio Studio] > [Version Number]

NOTE: The [user SID] listed above is a variable that will be different for each account on a computer. It will most often begin with S-1-5-21-.

Right click on the version number folder ONLY (for instance Sound Forge Pro 10) and select Delete. If prompted, confirm you wish to delete the folder.

As always copy the registry in case something goes wrong,

Good afternoon Rick. Thank you. When I was replacing the trial serial number with the purchase serial number in the registry editor current key data field, I was including hyphens. I know in the software activation section on the tech support site says to not use hyphens when entering the serial number. Could that be the reason why I'm not able to reinstall? Thanks, Dan

I've never heard of changing the license value in the registry, so I don't know the result. The elevated privilege reg. procedure works, since I have had to do it a few times (after Win 10 updates) on SF Pro 10. But that's a different issue. As I stated, I would uninstall the SF AS demo version all together with the Revo Uninstaller or clean the reg. and install the latest AS10 build '10b' I think)) It should be in the Magix service center: https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/
