Sound Forge 12.0 Won't Install Correctly

Unplugyourbrain wrote on 3/5/2019, 10:53 AM

I had Sound Forge 12.0 install on my PC for about 6 months. Worked fine. I was using Windows 7 at the time. Recently, my motherboard went on the fritz and I upgraded and replaced my motherboard, RAM, and CPU. I also upgraded to Windows 10.

I have attempted to reinstall Sound Forge 12.0, 4 times now with the same error. MSXML 4.0 SP3 parser (KB2721691) Error 1603, it does install but doesn't work.

I have gone to Microsoft and downloaded and installed the Service Pack 3 to try and replace it but nope. Sound Forge installs still and opens but in complete lockup. Have to End Task to get out of it. The box for it says it works on Windows 10. Please help.

Contact MAGIX tech support . The only thing I can think of is to try uninstalling with a third-party uninstaller that has the option to remove the app's leftover registry entries. (Revo's uninstaller for instance) The Win OS uninstaller leaves lots of reg entries behind that can cause problems.

I tried Revo. Tried a few times. No luck.

I sent a detailed message to support. I tried the SP3 as I said. Also tried installed and updating .NET with Windows 10. But still no.

Thanks for your help thus far. I'll reply an answer when support gets it working for me.

@Unplugyourbrain

In two posts you have referred to SP3/Service Pack 3 but you are now running Windows 10, apparently. AFAIK there is no such thing as SP3 for Win 10, so can you explain a little more about what you mean?

One other thing you could try to see if it will fully remove the "old" SF installation is on this page.
