Sound Forge 10 Saving files, creates SFK and audio file.

Hi All,

A client of us is still using Sony SoundForge 10, when he saves a project to a .mp3 audio file, he always gets a separate .sfk project file with the saving action.
Our client only wants to safe the .sfk file, and not an audio file (.mp3) in this case.
I cannot find a default safe option to create it, that it will only safe a .sfk file.

I hope somebody can help us out here, thanks in advance,

Floor

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge discussion group @FloorInterfacing. There is nothing wrong with "still using Sony SoundForge 10". Many folks prefer it over SF-11, 12 and 13. Pros and cons

I do not understand why your client only wants the <sfk> waveform build file.. The waveform build file is useless without the companion audio file.... be it PCM, MP3 or whatever It has no affect on the audio whatsoever. it just takes longer to re-open the audio file in SF or Vegas if the <sfk> file is absent.

OTOH, .. If the client does not want the <sfk> files to be saved, that can be disabled in "Options> Preferences> General> 'Hide new temporary files' or 'Delete temporary files on close' Also in the same menu is the option,"Prompt to open new file after Save as. This would prevent the new file from being opened as well' and subsequently building the <sfk> file. 'Always proxy compressed file formats' is another option to stop an additional <.sfap> proxy file and it's <sfk> file from being built.

Hi @rraud,

Thanks for your message.
This fixed our problem !

Our client only wanted to save a .mp3 file after a project, and not the .sfk file.
He was not very clear about this, anyway your settings advice is perfect, and our client is all very happy now :)

Have a nice day,

I suppose this topic can be closed somehow..

I am glad it worked out and your client is pleased.

I tagged it as the solution

strangly enough, we have another problem again with these .sfk problems.
When using a second local Windows 10 account, and unchecking enabling the option : Hide new temporary files'
Then .SFK files are not made anymore, with or withouth checking this feature within the settings.
If our client still wants a .sfk file, he cannot anymore unfortunately.

Strangly enough this setting keeps working fine on the other local Windows 10 user account.
How can we fix this problem.. ?

I told our client, that this could perhaps be related due to the fact that Sound Forge 10 was never made nor tested with Windows 10, and there fore could perhaps give strange problems/bugs in some situations.

Ask client, "is Delete temporary files on close' disabled?"

I will investigate this Win-10 / VP-10 behavior later today or mañana.
