Sound Forge 10 Sample rate problem

FloorInterfacing wrote on 10/18/2019, 5:37 AM

Hi All,

Our client has a problem when trying to cut and paste audio from an mp3 opened within Sound Forge 10 to a new template.
When he wants to paste the audio for a new edit, he always get's an error :
The source sample rate is lower than the destination sample rate. This will cause the source data to play faster and sound higher pitched in the destination.

Sample rates can be changed while preserving pitch using the Resample function under the Process menu.

Are you sure to continue ?

Our client does experience slowdown when he continue's.
We have looked into the resample functions on the process menu, but cannot find any setting that will fix this problem so far.

I hope somebody can help us out, thanks in advance,

Best regards,
Floor

Is the copied data being pasted into another existing file?
You can try converting the files to PCM. (Save as).
Can you post one of the files or at least the MediaInfo?

Hi rraud,
Thanks for your response.
The copied data is being pasted into a new empty file within Sound Forge 10, in this case.

Our client said that this message was not displayed before in the past, and since this is a new install on a new computer.
Perhaps there is a special setting he needs in order to get rid of this issue perhaps.. ?

another small info update from our client.
We told me, that we he saves a .mp3 file for instance, with a .sfk file he than does not encounter this error.
But when he saves a .mp3 file of a recording project, withouth a temporary .sfk file he then gets this error.

perhaps this error could be related to not using a .sfk file ?

He also told me that using saving all other sound formats did not help with this error.

Are the new "File> New" window parameters (Sample Rate, Bit Depth & Channels set the same as the file's data being pasted?

I get the same error message with both WAVE or MP3 when the new file sample rate differs from what is being pasted. This is normal. Ask client to confirm the new file settings as above. Otherwise the WAVE file's ID metadata could be corrupted. "Save as" to create a WAVE replacement file with the same file properties.

The waveform <.sfk> file or lack thereof should not make a difference.

Can the 'problem file' be posted somewhere for download?
