Sound Forge 10 Recording sound No sound

Elmo wrote on 9/26/2016, 10:27 PM

I have a copy of Sound Forge 10 on my Lenovo Y500 running Windws 10. I can currently record sound when I'm watching a video or you tube or something but when I try to record from the mic jack on the laptop, I get no meter readings, and no sound is recorded. Just updated drivers on the laptop so I know it's not an outdated driver issue. Please tell me what settings in SF and in Windows Device Mngr I need so that I can record from the microphone.

Thanks!

Hi

To check the microphone is set as the recording device - with the microphone plugged in, right click the speaker icon in the systray and select Recording devices.

The microphone should appear as an active device - if it is not there thenit may be disabled and hidden - right click in the blank area and set the options a shown below

If the microphone is not there, there may be an issue with the Realtek sound card detecting the microphone - if so then try disabling the laptop's built in microphone if it has one.

Note: when recording you may only get one channel recording - usually the left channel - this is normal for a mono microphone.

Microphone itself shows as working fine.

The Stereo Mix is shown as disabled. The last time I messed with it, every time I watched a tv show it echoed until I disabled it. I'm thinking that is related to the problem somehow but I don't know what the stereo mix is so not sure how or why. Thank you for your input.
