Sound distorting or dropping out

OK i have another problem and this one has been bugging me for some time. I take it that this software will not run with XP Windows that has a Celeron processor. I have attempted to run the software on a laptop which only has 2.49Ghz 240mb RAM and no doubt this is far too low to run a programme of this size. As i am finding the CPU rate is reaching 100% almost as soon as i build anything. Leaving me with a scratchy noise or starts becoming distorted which will finally end in the programme completely freezing up. I do have another PC which has  celeron processor inside but with 2Gb of ram would this programme be best suited to that PC
I will be running the sound out through a USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Go.
Or would i be better off putting this programme on another one of my PC's which does have a Pentium(R) 4 processor obviously using the USB sound Blaster i have. I may have to upgrade the ram as it has 1Gb but do you think this would be enough to run this programme with no problems. It obviously has no DVD Or CD Burner but that is not a problem as i have external ones anyway. Any information or help would be welcome thankyou.

Actually, I have the same problem with my desktop 3.06 single core processor and 1 gig of ram, E-mu audio card...    I just bought a laptop w/ intel i3 w/ 4 gigs ddr3 and have had it freeze up on me too....  I thought for sure the new laptop would have been more than plenty..??  If I hear od anything i'll let you know, or if you hear anything please let me know..

Ok i am going to update this post and probably will keep updating it with any new problem that i fix.
First off/ The Laptop although was not old it was no good for this programme and it does seem that if you are attempting to run this programme with a Celeron Processor the programme messes about. All kinds of problems from freezing picture/ Additional Loops take ages to load up/ or audio problems like scratching sound or sound drop outs. I have now ran this on a computer which is Dell Optiplex GX270 with a Pentium 4 Processor and has 1 Gb of ram of which i will upgrade if i have to. This seems to have solved everything. I have also added an external sound card which is the Sound Blaster X-Fi and am in the process at the moment of configuring this to run with the programme and all the music on this PC. Slowly hopefully i am ironing out all the problems found. It does say on the side of the box for this software at least a Pentium 4!!!
