Hi,

First of all, make sure that all the equipment is hooked up properly, of course. If you're using a VCR with SCART output, make sure that the switch on the little SCART adaptor plug is set to "out". Make sure the Composite cable properly connects the video output of your source to the video input of the USB capture device.

Once you're sure that there's no mistake in the setup of your hardware and video equipment, it's time to take a look at the software side. Make sure that the USB capture device is properly detected by your operating system. In the video software's analog capture dialog, make sure you're selecting the correct driver for the video input. If you have any other device in your system that might appear in the video driver list at this stage and you accidentally pick that one, you obviously won't get the signal from your external video source.

Next, you might want to check whether the problem is actually not with the proper input and capture of the source signal, but just with the preview of the picture in the program. Not all video modes of "Movies on DVD 7" might work well in conjunction with all graphics cards/drivers. Go into the program settings by pressing "P", switch to the "Display" tab and experiment with the video modes for the arranger and the analog capture dialog. A different video mode here might work just fine for you.

If none of this helps, this issue might boil down to an inappropriate driver being installed for the USB capture device. The quickest any easiest way to pinpoint and sort out this kind of problem is probably by contacting Magix technical support:

I hope this helps.
