This could be a Windows internet port setting or an antivirus block. Basically the program cannot connect to the internet and needs to for some reason. Maybe it still has bits of the program to download. Of that I'm not sure. So yes, it could be trying to load additional content but can't for some reason. If you are running Avast it is a known issue and you need to add VPX to the exceptions part of Avast.

Ray, thanks for your post. I am not running Avast, but I am running Norton360. Because I've chosen to not download the extra free content, I always get the popup for the options to install the other content. Perhaps it has something to do with that.(?)
To be honest, that is outside of my experience. I have always downloaded most but not all of the extra content. Normally leaving out the demo project and Vasco De Gamma. Third party plug-in options are normally optional but I think for smooth running of the program you should download the basics. Ie, VP-X's own editing suite.
I think we also saw one or two Norton users also reporting the same problem.
Do make sure Windows is completely up to date though as that can also cause problems. The most recent windows build can be found in my signature below.
