Snapshot differs from video

terrypin wrote on 9/3/2016, 6:31 AM

There sems to be a noticable difference between a still snapshot and the original, which I haven't seen in MEP 2014. Here's an example of a 1 sec clip followed by a snapshot of its last frame. I've included 4 cycles so that the differnce can be seen as 'flashing'.

EDIT: That's odd. I don't see the difference I described in the above MP4, made in MEP. Yet it's very clear in the MEP preview. So I've made another MP4 after capturing that (with CamStudio):

Hi Terry

We had a very similar question not so long ago and I occasionally get this if I export as a still image (jpg).

Did you create the still frame by exporting as single jpg or using the Insert still image at playback marker option ?

If the former try moving the timeline cursor forward or back one or two frames then export again - this usually fixes the problem for me.

IMHO the Insert still image ... option is better than exporting as jpg then re-importing the still image.

Thanks both. I used the familiar export but will try the new insert option tomorrow.

Yes, thanks, the Insert option indeed does give a faithful copy of the last frame. Not clear why though!

But one downside seems to be the loss of the Change photo length comand in the right-click menu.

And while I'm griping, see my latest post here. I doubt if it would ever be seen otherwise ... another moan!

Hi Terry

. . . . But one downside seems to be the loss of the Change photo length comand in the right-click menu. . . .

That is because the 'still image' is a pseudo image - I suspect it is a single video frame repeated for the preset image length - you can still drag it though.
