Slow loading time

When I drag a wav file into Sound Forge (Mac version), it takes ages to load up. It's getting slower every week too. Then when I go to load a plugin, that also takes ages. It's quick to process the file after that but the load time is so long. I only ever have Sound Forge running too, so there's nothing else running in the background.

Just timed it and it took 38 seconds to load a wav file and then 1:14 to load up a plugin. (I often need to process 60+ files in one go, so that's 2 hours wasted just waiting for it to load up). Both these processes were pretty much immediate when I bought SoundForge back in March.

I am using the same computer, the same operating system and have recently cleared out my hard drive. Is there anything I can do to make it as fast as it was 9 months ago?

Thanks

Chris

My setup: Sound Forge Pro Version 3.0.0 (Build 100), iMac with macOS Mojave Version 10.14.6,4.2 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory: 32GB 2400 MHz DDR4, and I am processing 48KHz, 16 bit, stereo files.

@ChrisR You can reset the program settings under the File menu. You need to recreate all your settings but it is possible that it will help.

@SP. you are such a legend! I just did what you suggested and it seems to have worked. I got the stopwatch out again - Current file load time 1 second, current plug in load time 1 second! You have literally just saved me 2+ frustrating hours per week. Thank you! 😀

When "Delete temporary files on close" is enabled, that can significantly slow down re-opening files, necessitating rebuilding the waveform each time. It is best not to delete the <.sfk> waveform files either whilst the file is in the workflow, Though it will not cause any loss or damage if it is deleted.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @ChrisR.

@rraud That's a good tip with the temporary files, I'll play around with that. Thank you also for the welcome 🙂 its great that Sound Forge has such a helpful and supportive users community.
